Cotton is opening fast and the farmers and their wives and all the tots are gathering it in. Mr. Willie Callaway is now working in Hampton at the brick trade. Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Wallace were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Callaway Sunday and also Mr. and Mrs. George Callaway and Miss Leila Callaway. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dorsey and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Barnett and Mrs. Carrie Stanfield and Misses Flossie Pendley and Lillie Patter son were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stanfield Sunday. At Lovejoy on last Wednesday night there was a colored folk’s exhibition. They were having a gun drill and a woman was hold ing a gun. It was loaded and she accidentally pulled the trigger, not knowing there was any load in the gun, and it went off and shot and killed a colored man and shot another woman. Mr. Wilber Dorsey and children spent Monday with John Dorsey, and Mr. Charlie Dorsey spent Wednesday and Thursday nights. Miss Flossie Pendley was the guest of Miss Lillian Stanfield two nights last week. Several from this place attended the singing at Mi. Carmel last Saturday and report a nice time.
