THE HENRY COUNTY WEEKLY h'HAMi KKAGAN, Kdiior Entered at theooßtofticeat McDonough, Gh , as wcond class mail matter. Advertising Kates furnished on appli cation. Official Organ of Henry County. McDonough, Ga., Oct. 13, 1911. Can Justice Russell Reverse The Bible? In that old but ever new Book, the Bible, the Greatest of judges and the Best of men pronounced the following: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” For many centuries this judg ment of Christ has remained un questioned and unreversed. It is only during this present year, s Dine two thousand years later, that there has arisen a judge, sit ting upon an earthly tribunal, who thinks he can reverse this judgment of infinite Wisdom and infinite Goodness. .Judge Russell, “the chronic candidate,” managed, in a multi tude of candidates, to slip into a seat on the Georgia Court of Ap peals. Upon assuming the duties of this office, he took upon himself an oath to support and administer the laws and constitution of the State. He acknowledged the law as his master. A part of this law is the prohibition statute. In a few months another office, that of Governor, gives promise of becoming vacant. Judge Rus sell immediately begins to stump the state in search for the office. He appeals to the lawless element and asserts that this law cannot be enforced. Does Judge Russell think he can serve both the law and the lawless and so reverse the Bible? We have no knowledge of a parallel case to this, of a man with the brazen effrontery of Judge Russell. In the afternoon he hears arguments of cases of violation of the prohibition laws in the Court of Appeals; the next morning he decides those cases on the stump, against his oath and in favor of the lawless, all the time appealing to the even higher court of public opinion to sustain him. We do not believe that the voters will sustain him. If Judge Russell is sincere in his belief that the law cannot be en forced, is wrong, and so ought not HOWARD CARMICHAEL LEADINO UNDERTAKER. Should he become Governor by his appeals to the lawless, can we believe that he will have any greater regard for the oath a governor must take, when he has already so grossly violated one solemn oath of office? And again, it would be a pretty spectacle of a governor for Geor gia to have, one whom both sexes could not afford to hear speak. This is the sort of speeches he is daily making on the stump, and so disgusting many who hear him. Georgia has suffered many woes and undergone many trials, but none greater than this lawless and shameless judge. NOTICK TO CREDITORS. All persons holding claims against the estate of William L.
