MISS VESTA ELLIS MARRIES MR. I. E. COMBS. Popular and Well Known Locust Grove Couple Wedded Last Week. Miss Vesta Ellis and Mr. I. E. Combs were joined in marriage on Tuesday evening of last week at 6 oclock at the home of the bride’s uncle, Mr. R. C. Brown, in Locust Grove. Dr. B. D. Ragsdale pronounced the words which made them one. It was a quiet but beautiful home wedding, with only the members of the immediate fami lies of the parties present. The bride and groom left on the seven o'clock train the same evening for Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and other Florida cities. They returned to their home in Locust Grove Tuesday of this week. This wedding united two of the best known and most popular young people of Locust Grove. Mrs. Combs is a charming and accomplished young lady who is universally admired wherever she is known, and her host of friends wish her the best always. Mr. Combs is a genial and cap able young merchant and farmer, who has already achieved unusual success in both. He numbers his friends by the hundreds and they are one and all congratulating him on his good fortune. Stockbridge. Miss Green Livingston and Mr. Ed. Livingston entertained at a delightful dinner party Christmas Eve. The guests were: Misses Artie Bellah, and Anna Butler, Mrs. Rosa Lee Ellison. Messrs. Horace Hawkins, Louis High tower, and Mr. Bowles, of At lanta. Messrs. John and Pete Livingston were also at home that day. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Power and little daughter Mildred returned home last week from a visit to Comer. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hightower were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Hightower last week. Mrs. Ruth Robinson, of Atlanta, was the recent guest of her mother. A most delightful occasion for the little friends of Master Jack Ward was his birthday party Tuesday afternoon of Christmas week. Invitations were issued a week before, in the words: “My Mamma wants to know if your Mamma will let you come to my party.” So the Mammas gave their consent and the party was quite a success. Games were en joyed for an hour, then the child ren were led to the dining room by their host. Delicious refresh ments were served, after which the candles were blown out, and good wishes made for Jack. In cutting the cake, Master Highland Branan received the dime, little Miss Mary Joe Mays the ring, Miss Cornelia Lee the needle and Master Jack Ward the thimble. Mrs. Ward was assisted by Misses Lois and Mattie Sue Byles, of Jackson, Miss llah Branan and Mrs. Augustus Swann. Misses Artie and Ziporah Bel lah were delightful hostesses to a dinner Dartv Wednesday of Christmas week. Mrs. Hardy Askew had as her guests to dinner on 1 hursday of Christmas week: Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Gossett, Mrs. John Gossett, of Atlanta; Mrs. Tom Kelley and daughter, Miss Alice Kelley, Mr. U. Askew, Mrs. Nix, Mr. and Mrs. John Bellah, Mrs. Harriet Haw kata, Mr» W, F. Grant and Mrs Augustus Swann. Miss Alma Hinton was the guest of relatives here last week. Mrs. T. G. Swann spent a few days with relatives here last week and attended the meeting at the Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Swann were the guests of relatives here this week. Dr. and Mrs. G. R. Parker and children, returned last week from Tifton. Master James Allen was a wel come visitor to Stockbridge last week. The Harriet T. Hawkins Chap ter C. of C. will meet with Miss Inez Harrell next Saturday Jan. 6. The Bank of Henry County has been designated and appointed by the Federal Government as de positary for the postal savings bank to be established at McDon ough Post Office this month. Walker will preach at Bethany church next Sunday night, everybody cordially invited. MISS ETHEL MOORE TO WED MR. ADAMSON. Engagement of Attractive Hamp ton Young Lady is Announced. The following announcement was made Sunday: MOORE—ADAMSON. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Moore, of Hampton, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Ethel Edna, and Mr. William Brackston Adamson, of Atlanta. The wed ding will take place the latter part of January and be witnessed by only the relatives and intimate friends. This announcement will be re ceived with interest by the people of Hampton and Henry County, where Miss Moore is so well and so favoi ably known. Miss Moore is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Upchurch and family, of Locust Grove, and Mrs. Carrie Mayo, were the guests at a turkey dinner last Sunday, given by Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Up church. Mr. and Mrs George Coates, of Atlanta, have announced the birth of a daughter. Mrs. Coates is pleasantly remembered here as Miss Corrie Bridges. The teachers Misses Hall, Tar ver, Woodward, Spence, Smith, and Elliot, returned Sunday, after pleasant visits to their homes Mr. and Mrs. Hankinson spent the holidays in Florida. Mrs. P. B. Drewry, at Griffin. Mrs. Wallace is the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Stephenson, of Hampton, while Mr. Wallace holds a very responsible position with the Central of Georgia Railway Company. They are receiving the good wishes and congratulation of their many friends who regret to give them up. After spending a few days with friends and relatives they will leave for their new home.
