DESIRE TO GROW?
“Watch McDonough grow” has
been often heard by everybody.
Indeed we have been watching
it grow.
And McDonough has been
growing. Within a decade Mc-
Donough has almost become an
other city. New and better and
handsomer business houses have
replaced old and autiquated
structures. New and beautiful
homes have sprung up in every
part of the city.
And we have been busy watch
ing. That is our trouble. We
must change our slogan to “Help
McDonough Grow.”
Never before hare our citizen
individually been more enterpris
ing and more prosperous. Yet
we see large slices of teritory
ours being appropriated by other
towns, where co-operative enter
prise goes hand-in-hand with in
vidual enterprise.
It may be true that our people are
satisfied with the volume of busi
ness we are now receiving. If
that be the case, then our town
pride should spur us to enlarge
our territory and make more
room for other business concerns
and industries, and so help
McDonough to grow.
Almost daily our railroad station
entertains for hours people who
are coming from the south-east
enroute to Indian Spring. Some
of these people could be interest
ed in the investment opportuni
ties offered by our town and
county. But nobody offers them
and they must have a human voice
before human ears will hear oi
their wonderful possibilities.
We could mention many other
opportunities at our doors, knock
ing in the night while we as a
community sleep or else are ab
sent at our individual concerns.
The remedy for this lack of ac
tion is a community concern and
it should be a community’s work
to provide it.
We have a town pride, but it
is not active. We need to organ
ize our town pride and then this
pride will go to work for McDon
ough.
We need a Board of Trade.
An effort is now on foot to or
ganize one. Join the movement
and make it a success.

To the voters of Flint Circuit:—
I have decided not to make the

as it would be a hotly contested

I hereby thank my friends for
their encouragement and support.
