The holidays are nearly over, and almost every one seems to have spent a very merry Christ mas. Mr. Jim Austin, I believe, re ceived about the greatest Christ mas gift of any in our community —a loving wife. We congratulate them both. Mr. Arthur Jeffares and the Misses Fisher, of Beersheba, at tended Sunday School at Mt. Beth el Sunday. So much rainy weather is very inconvenient for belated movers. We are glad to note that little Earl Hunt, who has been sick 'with typhoid fever, is improving, Misses Flossie Welch and Bur mah Meeks have returned home, after a visit to their grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Irene Martin are rejoicing over their first little son. Miss Fannie Ridgeway has re signed her school at Beersheba; .the school regrets to lose so exc 1- lent a teacher and the .community will miss this lovely young lady. Rev. E. C. Cowan returned to his work in South Georgia Friday. Miss Myrtie Hunt is visiting friends and realitives here this week. Mr. Ras Hunt has gone to At lanta. The school a t Pine Hill will open again tomorrow; the child ren all seem to love teachers and are anxious to return to school. Mr. Hunt Clements, of Atlanta, spent Christmas Day in our city. The heirs of William Harige who lived in Henry County about 60 years ago may learn something to their interest by addressing L. T. T 29 Grant Building, Atlanta, Ga. Adv. BOARD OF TRADE TO BUILD CITY HALL. At Meeting During Holidays Propo= sition was Discussed and Steps Taken. NEW MEMBERS TAKE PART IN DISCUSSION. The McDonough Board of Trade held a meeting at the court house on Thursday, December 26, 1912. The President and all the Vice-Presidents being absent, Mr. J. B. Dickson, one of the Directors, was elected Chairman. Mr. J. B. Dickson, as chairman of the Committee on Insurance rates, asked more time for their work. Mr. W. o.’ Welch, Chairman of Committee on City Hall and and quarters for Board of Trade, asked more time and requested an expression from those present on the matter. Most of the meeting was spent in discussing this building pro ject. It was the general opinion that the building should he erected and that it can he done. An encouraging feature was the fact that several new mem bers and one not yet a member made enthusiastic talks favoring the purposes of the Board m Trade. Next week we shall publish the complete roll of members up to date. We again gh'e a list of the various special and standing com mittees. Every member can help the Secretary and save him the work of notifying such committeeman, ii he will read this list, see what committee he is on, and go to work to accomplish some thing. SPECIAL COMMITTEES. 1. To visit the City Council and endeavor to have them devise some means by which we may have electric lights for the city streets; J. W. Hooten, H. C. Hightower, R. L. Turner, D. To visit City Council and endeavor to induce them to build on their property containing the stand-pipe a city hall and quarters for the Board of Trade, or consider a proposition by a corporation of citizens to build same: W. 0.
