Echoes From McDonough
High School.
We can but have the feeling of
such a wholseome pride in Mc-
Donough High School. Teachers
are alert, pupils interested, patrons
co-operative and pleased. And,
because of the fact that this the
largest school of the county, we
also want it to be the leading
school.
It is the leading school. But for
the untiring vigilance and interest
and industry on the part of the
earnest and most faithful principal
and teachers of this school, the
work undertaken the past month
could never have reached the high
degree of success now evidenced
from the building which has been
the scene ot so much earnest et
fort for the past few weeks.
The development of the cooking
department is almost a marvel.
Beginning with the purchase of
two oil stoves and perhaps half a
dozen vessels in which to cook,'we
have now increased our equip
ment, not to the highest state of
completion, but to a very neat, but
modest kitchen outfit.
It is most delightful to note the
joy with which the girls go about
their cooking lessons. The boy
scouts are also increasing, or try
ing with a mighty effort, to increase
their knowledge of domestic arts
and sciences— ANl) THE BOYS WILL
SUCCEED.
The results we are getting from
the girls in their sewing are very
fine. The girls, from the youngest
up, are to be highly praised for
what they have accomplished with
thimble and needle. Oh, how the
little lassies do work!
Nor are we forgetful of what
the boys have done with hammer
and saw and nails. Some very
useful things have been added to
the kitchen outfit, the tennis court
is near compeletion, and many
useful and pretty articles have
been made for the different rooms;
if they are not made they are in
the process of making and to be
completed soon.
Work makes the winning ones.
We are sure to win.
The Rev. Frank D. Hunt, Evan
gelist of the Atlanta Presbytery,
will assist the pastor, the Rev.
Jonas Barclay, in a serious of
meetings at Timberridge, begin
ning on the the first Sunday in
December.
Miss Mozelle Baldwin, of Cuth
bert, will arrive in a few days to be
the guest of Miss Ruth Turner.
