We have often during the past
few years felt inclined to write a
certain editorial of appreciation.
But now the man for whom it
was intended is dead, as the
world says. And the apprecia
tion was not written.
We never met the man of
whom we now speak. We never
even.saw him, We cannot say,
however, that we did not knoyv
him. Who that loves the old
South and would see its tradi
