Fouche, have purchased from Frank Reagan his lease to THE HENRY COUNTY WEEKLY, to become ef fective on January 1, 1916, and he and I have entered into a written contract by which 1 agree, among other things, to send, without further pay, The HENRY COUNTY' WEEKLY to all paid-in-advance subscribers to The Henry County Weekly as turned over to me at the end of the year 1915 by said Frank Reagan, until the ir paid-up-time expires, or for so long a time as I retain, either di rectly or indirectly through others, charge of said newspaper, THE Henry County Weekly, or partial charge of the same; it being the universal and accepted custom that, in the change of the own ership or control of a newspaper, the subscription list is taken over by the new management with the obligation to send the papers to all who are paid-in-adv tnce subscribers. Mr. Clarence Hubbard, of Mc- Mullen’s district, was critically ill the first of the week from acute indigestion. It is with regret that the friends of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Dickerson hear of the illness of their young son with pneumonia. Stockbridge. A happy occasion of last we ek was the meeting of the Wh it Next Club with Mrs. Joseph Mann, as hostess. Rook and work was the past time of the afternoon, after which a delicious salad course was served. The guests not members of the club were: Mrs. Charley Coleman and Mrs. I. S. Cook, of Atlanta, Miss Florence Power, of Comer, and Mrs. J. G. Ward, Miss Manta Brown, and Miss Margue rite Hartzell. Miss Hah Branan was hostess to the Joe Wheeler Chapter, U. D. C. and a few friends on Friday after noon. After all business a delicious hot luncheon, consisting of Christ mas dainties was served. Miss Florence Power, of Comer, who has been visiling Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Power for several weeks returned home Monday. Among the members from here who went to Atlanta Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Usher Hinton, Mrs. J. G. Ward and Mrs. W. W. Ward. McDonough, Georgia, Friday December 10, McDonough High School. Mr. Ray McGill, of Chicago, has been ihe guest of his aunt, Mrs. Fouche, a few dsys this week. Everybody remembers Ray as a school boy here; was glad to see him again, and proud to know he has acnieved success in his new home. Mr. Mason will move his family January the first from Mrs. Hut ton’s residence to that now occu gied by Mr. George Elliott, where he will go to his new home near town. Mrs. Fouche Mathews, of Annis ton, hasbeen the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Fouche at the Brown House. EASTERN DIXIE HIGHWAY BOOSTED HERE THURSDAY People From Atlanta and All Along Route Met and De cided to Do Something. Next Meeting at Stockbridge at An Early Date. The meeting last Thursday aft ernoon for the purpose of getting together on the highway question —the eastern route of the Dixie Highway which purposes to come from Atlanta by way of Stock bridge, McDonough, Jackson, In dian Spring, Forsyth to Macon — was well attended and enthusiasm shown. The need of such a route is not questioned by anvone. Last spring much work was done by Dr. J. G. Smith, Messrs Julian Weems and Homer Turner and others, and many subscrip tions were received, but for some reason interest and work were permitted to lag; but now it is ex pected to go right along with the matter, provided enough interest can be aroused. And to this end the meeting was had last Thurs day afternoon. The meeting was called to or der by Mr. C. J. Haden; Mr. Aldine Chambers was nominated and elected chairman. After a general discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Craig Cofield that the county commis sioners of each of the counties through which this highway passes be made or appointed as a committee or board to get all of the information as to cost, differ ent routes, and everthing neces sary for the building of this road, and to recommend the most feas able route; this recommendation to be made to this body at an other meeting. A motion was made and carried t making Mr. C. J. Haden a mem ber of this committee. Members of the county commissioners of Fulton, DeKalb,Clayton, and Butts counties were present. Cowan, of Route 6, was appointed at the recent South Georgia Conference of the Methodist Church as evangelist of the Thomasville and Americus district.
