Miss Lucy Ward has returned home from a delightful camping trip. Charles Henry Parantl a, of Stone Mountain, is the guest of Will Ward, Jr. Mrs. Rosser Ward entertained her Sunday school class with a straw ride to Hinton’s mill one evening last week. A picnic lunch was served at the mill. Mrs W. W. Ward has returned from an enjoyable trip to Chicago and Cincinnati. Madeline Ward is at home after a visit to Augusta and Keysville. The Woman’s Club met at the home of Mrs. Swann Wednesday, Mrs. John Ward was hostess. Nice Fair Letters. We wish to call attention to “Beersheba” (last weeks letter) in this issue. The first paragraph in regard to a county fair is true to the last letter. It isTull of reason. We hope everyone will read it and re-read it. Also the letter of Dixie High way. Pair occurred at his home in Flippen district at 8 o’clock last Friday morning, Aug. 4, 1917. Mr. Pair’s health began failing about two years ago, and his in creasing feebleness during the time which followed caused his family and friends deep concern, he having submitted to two com plicated operations in the course of illness, with the hope of per mm nt restoration. Mr. Pair was one of Henry county’s well known citizens, be ing a prominent, substantial farm er, also successful cotton buyer in in tins section many years, and leaves many friends. He is survived bv four daugh ters, Mrs. Cora Hayes, Mrs. Nora Conkle, Mrs. Nina Bennett and M... Annie Stanfill, and one son, Mr. Willie Pair. Interment was made in Flippen cemetery at 10 o’clock Saturday morning, funeral services being conducted by his former pastor. Rev. R. A. Edmondson now of At lanta, assisted by Rev. Walter Carmichael. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stewart spen Sunday with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Swann. Rev. Walter Carmichael filled his appointment at Bethel Sunday. There will be a series of prayer services at Bethel this week. We regret to chronicle the death of Mr. Barney Matthews, which occurred at his home near Mt Zion Saturday morning. Misses Snowdie and Chiffie Clarke had as their guests Sunday Misses Lula Herrington and Mary Mays, and Messrs. Willie Green and Arch Adams of Atlanta. Miss Mays remaining over for a few days. Mr. Claud Martin of Atlanta spent Sunday with hornefofks. Mrs. G. W. South spent Wed nesday afternoon very pleasantly with Mrs. L. C. Butler and Mrs G. C. Clarke. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. South spent Sunday afternoon at Mr. M. F. Martin’s. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Howell spent Wednesday in the Gate City. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. White and Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Peterman were the guests of Mr. and Mrs B. Y. White Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Hendon from Shingleroof Camp ground were the guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. Y. White one night last week. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Clarke, and daughters, Dessa and Virgin ia, spent Friday at Mr. T. W. Peterman’s. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Clark, Mrs. W. H.
