Mr. Homer Harris of the naval
hospital at Anapolis, Md., and Mr.
Russ Elliott with a U. S. battleship
at Norfolk, have been visiting
homefolks the past week and
heartily shaking hands with their
friends.
For July and August The Week

paper printed by the Newspaper
Union, to help pull through the
hot summer days. Besides, it
will afford a good general news
service for a change.
For the first time in years a
burglary occurred in McDoonough
one night last week. The Horton
drug store and Copeland-Turner
Co. building were broken open,
the perpetrators securing a small
amount of cash and only a few
minor articles. No clue.

Virginia Swann entertained a
few of her most intimate friends
at a spend-the day-party on the
occasion of her seventh birthday
last Tuesday. Those present were:
Mildred and Elizabeth Power, Lo
rene Owen. Mary Esther and Vir
ginia Swann and Claudine Ward.
Madeline Ward has returned
from Warm Springs and a week’s
visit to her aunt, Mrs. I. C. Lind
sey, of Manchester.
Mrs. E. R. Ward has gone to
Petersburg, Tenn., to visit her
mother, Mrs. Will Rhodes, for a
few weeks.
Protracted services will com
mence at the Presbyterian church
Sunday at eleven o’clock. Mr.
John Golf, the evangelist, will
preach, and Mr. Lindsey Dunn
will have charge of the singing.
Everyone is invited to come. Rev.
Edwin Hemphill of Atlanta will
help Mr. Golf.

ter is the guest of her sister, Mrs.
W. W, Ward.
Misses Ida Mae and Bessie Car
michael of Senoia were the recent
guests of Misses Eunice Milam and
Ladie Zue McWilliams.
Mrs. W. K. Brannan and daugh
ter, Nellie have been visiting rela
tives in Gwinnett county.
Mr. Dan Milam, a member of
the army Y. M. C. A , was a recent
guest of relatives here. He leaves
soon for work in France.

The Locust Grove Chapter, Red
Cross, announces that a meeting
will be held there next Wednes
day night, at which time Bert Mu
zer, a Hollander, who was in Hol
land at the time the Refugees fled
into that country from Holland,
will tell something of what he
saw and experienced.
The Locust Grove chapter will
shortly begin a class in surgical
dressings, and begs that all wo
men living in the vicinity of Lo
cust Grove, and who can give the
time, will take advantage of these
lessons.

al for publication from the various
chapters.

The Christian Index, the official
organ of the Baptists of Georgia,
is making a drive for 10,000 new
subscribers between now and Jan

Assembly of Georgia a bill will be
introduced, the Caption of which
will be as follows :
A Bill —Entitled an Act to Am
end an Act approved Sept. 18th,
1883, and the various Acts Am
mendatory thereof, incorporating
the town of McDonough, Ga., to
extend the Corporate Limits of the
City of McDonough, Ga. so as to
include in said city all that tract
of land recently purchased on the
south of said city for white ceme
tery, and all of that tract lying
north of a line from the S. W.
corner of said cemetery to a point
south of the Southern Railway Co.
at Griffin road crossing—thence
along the right of way of South
ern Railway Co. to the corporate
limits of said city, and for other
purposes.
