Food savings of millions of Americans during our first year of war enabled this govern

Our savin; in cereals—out of a s.tort crop—amounted to 154,800,000 bushels; all of which was
s*ip-ied to Europe. We increased our meat and fat shipments 844-600,000 pounds. This was

THREE WAR MEDALS

Red Triangle Worker Wounded by
Hun Machine Gun at Soissons,
Toul and Chateau Thierry
New York, August 25.—Flat on his
back in the Waldorf-Astoria hotel, W.
lA. Roberta, who has been awarded
three French war medals for bravery
in the fighting zones, is enjoying a
well-earned rest, and is talking freely
of almost anything but why the
French government showered honors
upon him.
Mr. Roberts, a Y. M. C. A. worker
in France, had bestowed upon him the
Croix de Guerre, the badge of the
Legion of Honor, and the Medal Mili
taire. He won them all in three
pionths.
Roberts was assistant auditor of the
Michij an Central railroad before he
was selected to be auditor of disburse
ments for the Y. M. C. A. in France,
and to handle more than a quarter of
a million dollars a day. He left for
overseas service February 12, was
wounded by a Hun machine gun at
SoissoTis, rescued a “Y” secretary amid
a hail of bullets in the Toul sector
and was touched up by German marks
manship again at Chateau Thierry.

While Red Triangle Continues to Call
for Overseas Workers, 1,000 Are
Wanted for Home Service
Atlanta, Ga., August 25.—Men en
dowed with the element of leadership
are needed by the Army and Navy
Y. M. C. A. to serve in the camps of
the Southeast.
Dr. V' W. Alexander, general re
cruiting secretary for the War Per
sonnel Board of the Y. M. C. A. War
Work Council, declares that there is a
pressing need for home service, and
that this affords a splendid opportun
ity to the man of middle age w r ho is
not able to go abroad under the Red
Triangle.
“The Y. M. C. A. needs men for
overseas service, of course, but the
home camps must not be forgotten,”
explained Dr. Alexander. “From now
on until the first of the year the
Southeast must recruit 1,000 men for
the home camps. This means that
each state will be called upon to fur
nish 25 men per month per state to
serve the soldiers in camps such as
Gordon, Jackson, "Wheeler and the
others. The constant srewth of the
home cantonments and the growing
"''•nand for the Y. M. C. A. work
makes it necessary to recruit “Y”
workers for this s’de.”

A BOX FROM HOME
Captain Archibald Roosevelt has
arrived home from France. He
had an arm shattered by a ma
chine gun bullet while leading a
charge last April. The arm is
partially paralyzed from the ef
fects of the injury, and the paraly
sis may be permanent. The Ros
evelt family is certainly getting its
share of war’s tragic blows.

Coughs that hang oil and grow
worse in the night and weaken
the sufferer are relieved by Fo
ley’s Honey and lar oftener than
by any other remedy. R. F. Hall,
Mabe, Va., writes: “For fifteen
years I was afflicted with a trou
blesome bronchial cough and irri
tation of the throat. Foley’s Hon
ey and Tar relieved me; after
taking one bottle the cough
ceased and has not returned.”

HENRY COUNTY WEEKLY, McDONOUGH, GEORGIA
A gentleman from France re
cently remarked that the only dis
satisfied soldiers are those who
have not yet reached the battle
fields of France, Others who find
least satisfaction in connection
with our conduct of the war are
usually those who have not yet
figured in the fight as conducted
by the various war agencies at
home.
Catarrhal Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of the ear. There
is only one way to cure catarrhal deafness,
and that is by a constitutional remedy.
' atarrha! Deafness is caused by an in
flamed condition of the mucous lining of
the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is
inflamed you have a rumbling sound or
imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely
closed, Deafness is the result. Unless the
Inflammation can be reduced and this tube
restored to its normal condition, hearing
will be destroyed forever. Many cases of
deafness are caused by catarrh, which is
an inflamed condition of the mucous sur
faces. Hall’s Catarrh Cure acts thru the
blood on the mucous surfaces of the sys
tem.
We will give One Hundred Dollars for
any case of Catarrhal Deafness that cannot
be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Cure. Circulars
free. Ali Druggists, 75c.
