PROGRESS NEWS NOTES. The weather is more beautiful. Everything is looking fine. Na ture is bursting forth with all its beauties. Everybody is seeming lively ov er the fine weather. Spring should be the choice season of the year, as everything is putting on new life. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Johnson spent a few days last week with relatives near Ola. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Foster and Mr. Marvin Foster spent one aft ernoon last week with Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McCullough of Lovejoy. Mrs. T. G. Strickland spent last Wednesday the guest of Mrs. W. N. Strickland. Messrs. Marvin Foster and Rob ert Strickland gave Messrs. Troy and Corbett Evans s general set around last Tuesday evening. Mr. Henry Exum happens to come over to school about once a week, “for a view of a pretty girl C?” We hear there is going to be one of the ditching machines up Pate’s creek soon, and believe me, it’s going to knock the frogs out of it. Seems as spring is coming very early this year, especially in Clay ton county, possibly because the ditchers are coming, for there’s one old toad croaking beyond comparison now. But the croaks are in vain. Though above all, Uncle Sam urges us to raise all the necessary food products possi ble. And by this system of ditch ing we will be able to cultivate the many acres of rich bottom land that are now a pool of water. And as they are, they are not serv iceable as a good pasture. Taxes to pay with no production to se cure their cost. The entertainment given by Miss Hattie Lewis in honor of the re turned soldiers, Messrs. Troy Ev ans, Marvin Foster and Robert Strickland, was enjoyed by all present. Mr. Marvin Foster spenl Sunday the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Dixon of Orrs. Mr. Leroy Strickland of Camp Gordon spent the week-end wnh his parents and friends. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Foster mo tored down to Hampton to see Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Chaffin Sun day afternoon. TOMMY. FIVE HUNDRED WOMEN WANTED Nashville. Tenn —Five hundred young women are wanted at once by the Women’s Missionary Council of the M. E. Church, South. They are wanted for services and missionaries of the church in both the home and foreign fields and the best type of womanhood is asked for. Women to whom the desire to serve has come very keenly, women whom the spirit of the hour has gripped earnestly, this is the type with whom the church wishes to make connection for various forms of missionary endeavor. The particular forms of missionary work open to the young women of the South are in the medical, evange listic and educational departments in the mission fields. One hundred and fifty are wanted as evangelists and deaconesses; two hundred and fifty an wanted as teachers and one hun dred are wanted as doctors and nurses. The call has particularly gone out for young women of college educa tion in order that they may be able to g-rasp quickly the leadership in the work which the church needs. The calling of these young women is made possible through the Cente nary of the church which is being ob served this year. A fund of $35,000,- 000 will be raised soon, and this money will make possible the sending of many missionaries to Africa, Japan, China, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Korea £nd in the home field. ,* White-Light Producer. Ford extends thanks to eyery one who so thoughtfully and freely gave us their tender care and sympathy during the illness and death of her precious husband, Mr. N. H. Ford. Chronic Constipation. There are people who never have a movement of the bowels without it is produced by a cathartic. Most of them have brought that condi tion on themselves by the use of mineral waters and strong cathar tics that take too much water out of the system and aggravate the disease they are meant to relieve. A mild laxative tonic like Cham berlain’s Tablets affords a gentle movement of the bowels that you hardly realize has been produced by a medicine, and their use is not so likely to be followed by censti pation.
