We heard a farmer say a few days ago that his mules were re fusing to eat since began plowing, and while he was talking another man came along and stated the same thing. With the extreme high price for mules it will be well for everybody to keep a close watch on stock. Of all the times that people ever had they are having it now. Since the new time went into effect some folks still have the old time, some have sun time and some have the new time, and it puzzles a fellow sometimes to even tell what time it is. One of my fellow wage-slaves (re lates Loupe) is the proud possessor of an exceedingly noisy shirt —white, with wide orange and purple stripes, If you will believe it. One evening, he was calling on some friends who have a five-year-old daughter. The youngster gazed wide-eyed at the screaming combination, then, rubbing her hand over the shirt front, in quired : “What kind of a flag is that?” —Cleveland Plain Dealer. Well-Preserved Stakes. Some of the piles in use in Amster dam are three to four-hundred years old. That part which Is not in the ground in salt water is often bored by a pile worm near the surface, but Is preserved by driving in nails with •very large heads, so as to give the pile an iron coating. This coating is then transformed hy the water into a layer of rust, which protects the wood from the pile worm. This process xnufft be repeated every fifteen years. T ribute of Respect. The whale is said to yield a barrel of milk at a milking. But what hap pens to the milker if she gets care less with her tail? Chronic Constipation. There are people who never have a movement of the bowels without it is produced by a cathartic. Most of them have brought that- condi tion on themselves hv the use of mineral w T at.ers and strong cathar tics that take too much water out of the system and aggravate the disease they are meant- to relieve. A mild laxative tonic like Cham berlain’s Tablets affords a gentle movement of the bowels that, you hardlv realize has been produced by a medicine, and their use is not so likely to be followed by censti pation. Horton Drug Co. THE strong and vigorous man or woman is envied by less fortunate humanity afflicted with aches, pains, infirmities and ailments. The sufferer says to himself, “If I could only be well, how happy I would be,” for health is more essential to the joy of living than is wealth. The kidneys almost literally wash the blood and keep it clean and free from impurities. When the kidneys are out of order, they fail to filter out this waste and pois onous matter. It remains in the system to cause backache, rheumatic pains, sore muscles and stiff joints. JMeyjjdney pills help the system eliminate this poisonous waste. They soothe, strengthen and heal sore, weak and diseased kidneys and bladder. 'When the kidneys are working properly, appetite returns, refreshing sleep is possible, and health and strength come again. C. W. Smith, 1?05 No. 4th St., Salina, Kas., writes: “1 am very much pleased with Foley Kidney Pills. I am worldngin a coal yard and have been very much troubled with my back. 1 have taken several doses of Foley Kidney Pills and they have already helped me.” The McDonough Drug Do. Petition. No. 1. S.
