Griffin.
We have always heard that it
one did not go to meeting that it
would not come to us. But we
all know there is nothing impossi
ble. We have been staying away
from church a good deal this year
more on account of physical dis
ability than anything else. So
last Saturday night “meetin’ ”
came to us. Just across the street
from us lives a white-haired
widowed mother. Her son was
drafted last June and never saw
his home again until Saturday
night at 11 o’clock. He had been
overseas ten months. Often be
fore his return, as the mother
would sit on her porch and sing
softly, we knew where her
thoughts were drifting and how
her heart was yearning for that
boy. It was a real joy to us as
we watched them embrace and
shed tears of joy and hear the
mother give praise to the One
who doeth all things well.
It was sad news to us when we
read the death of Mrs. Savannah
Fargason in The Weekly. We
had known her for several years
and feel that we have lost a close
friend. One who was always
ready to give good advice. We
had hoped to shake her hand at
camp meeting this year, where it
was always her custom to spend at
least one day. Since her health
began to fail our hopes have been
blighted, while her camp meet
ing has just now begun. We wish
we could have been at the funeral
and placed a tiny flower on her
casket as a token of our love.
But alas! She knew it in life.
What more need we say ?
