Misses Bertha Bunn and Lillie Lee Elliott have returned from Athens, where they took a six weeks’ course at the Normal. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Burch sympathize with them in the death of ther infant son, which occurred at their residence here Wednesday night. The Borden Wheeler visitors mentioned last week all returned home Sunday except Mr. G. L. Thrasher, who visited his daught er at Cave Springs. HENRY COUNTY WEEKLY, McDONOUGH, GEORGIA Lightning Hits Home. Lightning struck the stove room of Mr. John A. Copeland’s resi dence during the heavy rain storm last Friday afternoon and damag ed it considerably. Fortunately the family were all in the front part of the house, and beyond the severe shock were uninjured. Big Sunflower. Mr. S. B. Fincher showed The Weekly a sunflower Monday measuring 14 inches across and weighing 6 pounds, literally pack ed with fully matured seed. The plant was grown in Mr. Fincher’s garden from seed taken from a sack of chicken food Sunflower seed are said to be the finest feed for poultry, as well as horses, cat tle and hogs, and eaten more heartily than most anything else by them all. Besides, it can be raised with scarcely any expense. Try it. Rook Party. A lovely affair of last week was the party Thursday afternoon when Mesdames R. A. Sloan, W. G. Copeland and A. K. Brown en tertained at the home of Mrs, Sloan. The living rooms where the tables were arranged for Rook were bright with Quantities of fragrant garden flowers. A salad course and cream and cake was served at the conclusion of the games. Among the out-of-town guests present were Mrs. Stewart Combs of Locust Grove, Mrs. C M. Power and Mrs. W. W. The grounds and poo! of the McDonough Recreation Club are private property, and no one is entitled to enter same except members and their families. Members have the privilege of carrying ladies with them, but cannot carry any men or boys who live in McDonough or vicinity. The Governing Board has made an assessment for 1919, and this must be paid before the 10th of August. If any member refuses to pay same his membership will be forfeited. Each member is requested to pay this to some member of the Board or to discontinue going to the grounds of the Club. The Governing Board will have a watchman on the grounds to see that all regulations and rules are carried out. Any member or member of his family who violates the rules will have their membership forfeited. The watchman will have a list of ones eligible to enter, and all others will be barred from the grounds.
