The many friends of Miss Genie Dearing will regret to learn that she has been critically ill at her home on Floyd street. Dr. and Mrs. P. D. Mahoney an¬ nounce the birth of a fine baby boy at the home of Mrs. E. F. Edwards, on Monticello street. Miss Ruth Duke, one of Newborn’s charming young ladies, was the guest of Misses Fannie and Edna Taylor a day or two of this week. Mrs. R. Lee Callaway, of Lexington, is in the city with her sister, Miss Genie Dearing, who has been quite sick during the past few days. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Reed are receiv¬ ing the congratulations of their many friends upon the arrival of a bounc¬ ing baby boy at their home on Church street. Mrs. A. M. Turner attended the Missionary Meeting at Milledgeville and returned home Monday afternoon. She reports a very large attendance and five sessions of the conference. Travis, one of the city’s leading physicians and popular citizens, spent a few days of the past week in Macon, w’here he w 7 ent to attend a meeting of the Cen¬ tral Railway Surgeons and State Med¬ ical Association, both of w T hich he is a member. At the annual meeting of the Royal Arcanum held in Athens last week, Mr. R. P. Lester, of this city, w 7 as re-elected Grand Secretary of that or¬ der. Mr. Lester has held this re¬ sponsible position for a number of years, and has made the Royal Ar¬ canum one of its best officers. The Mothers Circle held perhaps one of the most interesting meetings since its organization on Friday af¬ ternoon at the home of Mrs. Eugene Everitt. The topic of discussion for the afternoon was upon the relation of the mothers to the teachers in the public schools. The excellent pro¬ gram w 7 as in the hands of Mrs. H. B. Anderson and Mrs. Mortimer Hays and was particularly interesting inas¬ much as the teachers of the Coving¬ ton schools were present. Mrs. Ev¬ eritt served the guests, after the bus¬ iness session was over, with delicious ices and cakes. The next meeting W'ill be held with Mrs. A. H. Foster. Important Meeting of Circle Number 1.
