Monroe—Covington Football Game.
First the score, Monroe 15; Coving¬
ton 12.
The game was played last Friday
afternoon on the bail ground in Mon¬
roe, being called promptly at 2:30
p. m., and ending at 3:45.
About 200 spectator® and rooters
were out, and everybody thoroughly
enjoyed it. As the score will indicate
the game was close and the teams
well matched. The Monroe team had
a slight advantage in weight; while
the Covington boy®, It must be said,
displayed more knowledge of the
game.
The Covington team accompanied
by the principal of the Covington
school, Prof. Gibson, who is also the
coach of the team. Prof. Upshaw,
Supt. of the Covington school, Mr. J.
M. Wright, (an enthusiastic rooter)
and Messrs. T. C. Swann, R. E. Nor
cros®, C. A., and T. J. Harwell, jour¬
neyed over in four automobile®.
There were several star plays, and
the knights of these several
received much applause from their
admirers. Special mention should
made of the runs by Emerson
son, Mendel Boonstin and John

situation, altho they didn't get suffi¬
