APPLICATION FOR CHARTER.
GEORGIA, Newton County.
To the Superior Court of said County.
THE PETITION of Mrs. James R.
Stephenson, R. E. Stephenson, E. W.
Fowler, N. Z. Anderson and E. M.
Piper, all of said county and their as¬
sociates, successors and assigns re¬
spectfully show to the court that they
desire to be incorporated into a body
corporate and politic under the laws
of said State under the name of
STEPHENSON HARDWARE CO.
with the right under said name to
sue and be sued, to have and use a
common seal, to buy, hold, lease and
convey real and personal property of
every kind and in general to do any
and all things necessary for the pur¬
pose of carrying on and conducting a
general hardware business in the
City of Covington and Newton county
and elsewhere as the officers of said
corporation may desire.
(1) The object of said corporation
is pecuniary gain to the stockholders
of said corporation.
(2) The particular business to be
engaged in is the buying and selling
of all kinds of hardware, farming Im¬
plements, vehicles, household £oods,
plumbing goods, builders’ materials,
paints, oils and general merchandise.
(3) The princ ipal place of business
of said corporation shall be at
ton in said county of Newton, but
petitioners desire the right to es¬
tablish branch offices or places of
business at, such other places as may
be deemed profitable by the board of
directors of said corporation.
(4) Petitioners desire to be incor¬
porated for a term of twenty years,
with the privilege of renewal at the
expiration of said term of years.
(5) The capital stock of said cor¬
poration shall be the sum of
TWELVE THOUSAND AND. FIVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS, divided into
12o shares of the par value
of one hundred dollars each, all of
which has already actually been paid
in, but petitioners desire the right
to increase said capital stock at any
time, by a vote of the stockholders of
said corporation, to any amount not
exceeding the sum of FIFTY THOU¬
SAND DOLLARS, which said capital
stock may be paid in either money or
property on such terms as the board
of directors may prescribe.
(6) The stockholders of said cor¬
poration desire the right to prescribe
by bylaws the number of officers of
Haul corporation, prescribe duties,
rights and privileges, elect a board
of directors not less than three in
number not more than seven, fix the
compensation of all of said officers
and their terms of office.
(7) Said corporation shall have
the right to issue bonds, create mort¬
gages or mortgage deeds upon their
property, and in general to do all of
those things common to such corpora¬
tions under the laws of said State,
and) to «be given all of the rights, pow
ers and privileges of like corporations
under the law's of said State of Geor¬
gia.
Whereas, Petitioners pray the pass¬
ing of an order of this Honorable
Court declaring this petition granted,
with all of the powers and privileges
herein prayed,

Mr. Carl Carter, of Rutledge, was
a visitor here Sunday.
Mrs. W. C. Benton was the guest
of Monticello relatives Wednesday
and Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Smith, Mr. Jim
Harwell and Mr. Bill Harwell at¬
tended the Spears-Faulkner wedding
in Monticello Thursday. Mrs. Faulk¬
ner as Miss Spears was quite a
charming young lady. She has many
friends here who extend hearty con¬
gratulations.

Smith spent the week-end in Atlanta.
News has been received of the
death of Henry Gaither, son of Mr.
A. L. Gaither. He died at the State
Asylum, where he was placed some¬
time ago. Mr. Gaither has a number
of warm friends here who sympa¬
thise deeply with him. He has had
a number of bereavements recently.
We can only point 1 , him to the one
who can heal all our diseases, share
all our sorrows, for He never makes
a mistake. Mr. Gaither will make hia
.home with his daughter, Mrs. Banks,
of Milledgeville.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Herring spent
Sunday with relatives in Madison.
Mr. and Mrs. Skinner, of Starrsville,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W.
N. Blake.
Rev. R. S. New, of Mercer Univer¬
sity filled the pulpit of the Baptist
church Saturday and Sunday.
