family made a motor trip to Newborn

Mrs. P. W. Warren, formerly of

turned home last night, after a short
visit to Mrs. Charles A. Clark.
Mr. J. Adger Stewart, formerly of
Covington, bu* now of Louisville, Ky.,
was the guest Sunday and Monday of
his uncle, Mr. C. C. Robinson.
Miss Emily Driver returned Mon¬
day morning from Atlanta, where she
was the guest of her parents in
Hapeville from Saturday night.
Mrs. L. I.. Middle brook and daugh¬

a very pieman' visit to Atlanta,

Mrs. Clifton Lee and two sons,
who have been spending some time
in the city the guests of Dr. and Mrs.
J. W. Lee, left last week for Macon.
Mrs. R. P. Lester spent Saturday
in Atlanta, where she went to meet
her son, Mr. John Rush Lester, who
was in Atlanta with the Auburn foot
ball team.
Mrs. J. T. Pittman and little daugh¬
ter, Eugenia, of Columbus, are spend¬
ing several weeks in the city, guests

Miss Grace Whitehead, who is at¬
tending the G. N_ and I. C., at Mil
ledgeville, will arrive Friday even¬
ing and spend the week-end with her

Mrs. W. Wright Jones and bright
little daughter, Gwendolen, spent
Sunday in Atlanta, the guests of the
former’s sister, Mrs. J. D. Campbell,
in East Point.
Miss Ena Belle Peek has returned
home after a pleasant visit to Madi¬
son, where she spent the week-end
with her brother and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. C. H. Peek.
Mr. Claud Whitehead, formerly of
Covington, but now of Atlanta, will
spend this coining week-end in the
city, the guest of his mother, Mrs.
Ida Anderson Whitehead.
Mrs. Sallie Jackson Simms and
daughter, Miss Bonner Simms, have
returned from a delightfu 1 visit to
Atlanta where they were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Simms for a
week.
Mrs. Mary Hefley, Mrs. John J. Cor¬
ley, Mrs. George Waller, Mr. Ollie
Bradshaw, and Mr. Harry Davis had
a most enjoyable motor trip to At¬
lanta Thursday, where they spent
the day.
Miss Ruth Wright, who is spending
some time in the city with her sister,
Mrs. W. Wright Jones, returned Mon¬
day morning from Atlanta, where she
spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs.
J. D. Campbell, in East Point.
Mrs. W. S. Peek and children, who
have been spending some time in the
city the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John
W. Peek, left Saturday to visit rela¬
tives in Jacksonville, Fla., before re¬
turning to (.heir home in Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Milner and
daughter, little Miss Sarah Milner,
Miss Nellie Milner and Mr. Harry
Davis made a most delightful motor
trip to Atlanta Wednesday. On then
return, Miss Nellie Milner stopped
over at Lithonia to visit relatives and
friends for a few days.
Mrs. Clara Perry, formerly of Cov¬
ington, but recently of Atlanta, was
the guest of her brother, Dr. A. C.
Perry, and Miss Lottie Hendrick, on
Wednesday and Thursday. She left
Thursday night for Fort Lauderdale,
where she will spend the winter with
her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Bryan.

Mrs. John S. Wright, of Cov'ngton,
announces the engagement of her
daughter, Pauline, to Mr. John Dixon
Smith, of Nashville, Ga., the
to take place at the home of her sis¬
ter, Mrs. t. H. Trippe, of Covington,
on the afternoon of Nov. 20th, at 5
o’clock.
Hallowe’en Parly.
Quite a pleasant affair of laist week
among the younger set was the hal
lowe’en party at which the boys com¬
plimented their girl friends on Friday
evening at the home of Miss Eugenia
Guinn.
The house was prettily decorated
with ferns and growing plants, and
a chafing dish supper was sreved.
Music and bright conversation were
the main feature of the evening.

Pauline Anderson, Natalie Turner,
Louise Whitehead, Lucy White, Caro¬
line Wootex, Mary Brown Anderson,
Eugenia Guinn. Messrs. Dan "Upshaw
Bagley Wright, James Lester, Jim

Mrs. Adams Entertains.
A most delightful affair of last week
was that at which Mrs. S. H. Adams
entertained a few friends on Satur¬
day afternoon at her home on Floyd
street in honor of Mrs. Mary Hefley,
and her charming daughter, Mrs.
George Waller, of Geiger, Ala.
The house was very attractive with
its decorations of handsome ferns,
growing plants and quantities of fra¬
grant cut flowers.
Music and recitations were the
main features of the afternoon, and
one table of “42” was played. A
most delicious salad course wF' hot
chocolate was served.
The invited guests included Mrs.
Mary Hefley. Mrs. George Waller,
Mrs. John J. Corley, Mrs. J. F. Hen¬
derson, Mrs. Fannie Metcalf, Mrs. W.

Phantom Party.
One of the most enjoyable events
occuring on Hallowe’en night was a
Phantom party at which Mr. Joe Hu
sonj was host, at 1,he residence of his
parents, Mr and Mrs. Robert Wing¬
field Hu son, in North Covington.
The houie was most attract - vely
decorated with pumpkin lanterns and
shaded candles.
Many delightful games were played,
until a late hour, then refreshments
were served.
Mr. Huson was assisted in enter¬
taining by his mother, Mrs. R. W.
Huson, and his sister, Miss Winni
fred Huson. About 25 guests were
present.
