A most delightful event of last
week in North Covington, was the
six o’clock dinner at which Airs. C.
R. Powell entertained a few friends
on Wednesday at her home, in com¬
pliment to Aliss Ida Thompson, of
Mansfield.
Ferns and growing plants were
prettily arranged in the rooms, and
the table in the dining room had as
its central decoration, ’ beautiful

mound of bright colored fruits,
resting on a pretty hand-made cover.
A delicious four course dinner was
served from the table beautiful in ite
appointments.
The guests included Miss Ida
Thompson, of Alansfield, Airs. Genie
Thompson, and children, Air. and
Airs. p. w. Skelton, Alisses Fann f e
and Alae Livingston.
Alusic and games were the main
features of the evening.

ternoon at her home in North Cov¬
ington. Sidney Lanier and James
Lane Allen, the subject. The house
was very attractive with its Xmas
decorations "of red and green, while
ferns and pot plants were effectively
arranged in tbe rooms open to guests
The handsome mahogany table had as
its center piece a vase of red and
n hite carnations resting on an exqui¬
site lace cover. The candlesticks
and candelabra*, held white tapers
under red shades. A delicious salad
course was served.
About 25 members were present.
