missionary gleanings
The Missionary society of the Brit¬
ish Wesleyan church has adopted this
as its slogan for 1915: “Let us heat
0,1 r best record.” Tills is the battle
cry, ns fa r as missions are concerned,
of that church for this year, and it is
a good one. Georgia Methodism could
"ell adopt it and with persistent eff¬
orts carry out to the fullest accom¬
plishment. if British Methodism, that
is said to have about 350.000 men in
Hie armies of the Allies, can face such
an achievement as that while this ter¬
rible war is raging, what could not
Southern Methodism accomplish while
at peace with all the world, with so
many resources at their command.

achieved. Here ar e a few samples:
“The Georgia Bankers Association that
met in Savannah May 29th, passed a
resolution that at future banquets of
the association no wine or intoxicating
liquors of any kind are to he served.”
“Recently Scribner’s Magazine cancel¬
led its liquor advertising contracts,

campaign against rum.’ “The Gen¬

said that the liquor question never

from this time on. no man should lie
allowed to go to ou r United States

the General Assembly holds it lacks
power to support National prohibition

tlie attitude of the church against the
evils of the liquor traffic, or the sin of
intemperance.” The State Conven
tion of Prohibitionists is to meet in
Atlanta June 22, the day before the
Legislature convenes. A bill is being
prepared by the Anti-Saloon League
that the Legislature will be asked to
pass, which it is said will be satisfac¬
tory to all temperance people. It is
hoped that all who desire the good of
♦he country, and who want us to be
freed from the evils of drink, will
work and pray that it may be passed.
