EDITION
$J A Year In Advance
The internal use of alcohol strikes
the the very root of life itself, as it
is a protoplasmic poison inhabiting the
“breathing functions of the cell itself.
Every part of the human body is
weakened by its use. About 21 per
cent of lunatics suffer from alcoholic
insanity.
It produces a diminution of bodily
activity and decreases the ability of
the body to overcome disease. The
slight increase of energy that it causes
is more than overbalanced by the un¬
desirable effects produced elsewhere.
A large percentage of physicians have
ceased to employ it in their practice,
ami those who still utilize it—In this
way—do so in greatly diminished
quantities.
