Jack Davis, attended grand opera in
Atlanta Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Hnnessee and
children, and Mrs. Aiken, made a mo¬
tor trip to Atlanta Thursday.
Miss Clara Belle Adams was the
guest of Miss Myrtis Peters in Monroe
Saturday and Sunday, and attended
the Union while there.
Mrs. F. W. Godfrey has returned
from a most delightful trip to Atlanta,
where she was the guest of her sister,
Mrs. W. T. Elder, and attended grand
opera while there.
Miss Maybelle Clark has returned
from Atlanta, where she was the guest
of friends during the week of opera.
Mrs. It. P. Lester, Miss Annie Mae
Lester and Miss Lottie Hendrick, were
among the visitors attending the grand
opera in Atlanta Thursday.
Miss Mollie Wilson joined her broth¬
er, Mr. A. S. Wilson in Atlanta Thurs¬
day, and with Mrs. C. B. Lewis, at¬
tended the opera.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Adams and fam¬
ily attended the Union meeting at Mon¬
roe Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and
were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Luther
Reedlove.

ily attended the Union meeting held in

Miss Caroline Wooten has returned
to Atlanta to resume her studies at
the Normal.
Miss Eugenia Guinn has returned to
Agnes Scott College to resume her
school duties.
Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Meador and sons,
Comer and Charlie, and Mrs. Ida
Whitehead made a delightful motor
trip to Milledgeville Sunday.
Miss Edna Huson, of Atlanta, re¬
turned home Sunday after a very pleas¬
ant week-end spent with her cousins,
Misses Brownie and Winnifred Huson.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Brice have re¬
turned to their home in Atlanta, after
a pleasant visit to their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. P. Odum.
Miss Irene Fincher, of Locust Grove,
is the guest of Mrs. Dora Fincher.
Mr. .T. J. Dobbs, one of Hays district
splendid citizens was in our city Fri¬
day.
MISS ANNIE MAY LESTER HOS¬
TESS TO MUSICAL CLUB.
One of the most delightful events of
the past week, socially, was that at
which Miss Annie Mae Lester, enter¬
tained the members of the Musical
Club, on Monday afternoon at her
home in North Covington. Ferns,
growing plants, and spring flowers,
were attractively arranged in the re¬
ception rooms. After the regular bus¬
iness meeting, there was an interest¬
ing program on the subject of Verdi.
Miss Annie Lois Stowe, gave a brief
outline of his life, and work. Miss
Clara Belle Adams, played a selection
from his repoa Aida. Miss Annie Mae
Lester, gave a synopsis of Aida. Miss
Winnifred Huson, sang “Ah, I Have
Sighed to Rest Me,” form 11 Trovatore
and Miss Florence Wells, sang “Home
To Our Mountains.” At the conclu¬
sion of the interesting program, a de¬
licious salad course was served.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Miss Winnifred Huson,
in North Covington.
VOCAL TRAINING CLASS.
Prof. Wilford Waters, of the Atlan¬
ta Conservatory of Music, arrived in
Ihe city yesterday to arrange for a
clas^ in vocal training, having al¬
ready secured a sufficient number of
pupils to open a studie. Prof. Watters
conies with the highest recomendations,
and is considered one of the very best
teachers in the Conservatory, and Cov¬
ington may well congratulate herself
in securing the services of this splen¬
did teacher.

“The Better the Day the Better the
Deed.”
The Porterdale Sunday Schools went
for an outing to Stone Mountain last
Sunday. There were about 200 in the
party to enjoy climbing the Mountain
and be exhilerated by the fresh Moun¬
tain air. A sumptous noonday meal
was served the hungry crowd to the
entire satisfaction of all. After which
a singing was enjoyed at the Pavilliou.
After a day spent in climbing and
sight-seeing, all returned home well
equipped for a trip to Slumberland.
Beautiful order was kept throughout
the day and the' trip was free from ac¬
cident We hope that the outing will
give an inspiration to our Sunday
School.
PUBLIC SERVICES.
Mr. J. A. Sowell. I). D., will be or¬
dained as Deacon at the Baptist church
next Sunday. Several Ministers will
iv present.
Dinner will lie spread under the trees
near the church. You are cordially
invited to attend, and especially mem¬
bers of neighbor churches.
Prof. Piper will direct the singing.
