MANSFIELD AND NEWBORN
FLOURISHING CITIES
Crops are Good in Spite of Long Dry
Weather, and Business .
Is Good.
It was the pleasure of the Editor to
visit the cities of Alansfield and New
born Friday. The visit tilled the hea«
with pride in our county to realize that
it contains two cities which continue t.
grow and prosper as do these.
'Tlie morning train brought us first to
Newborn. Here everybody goes to hi
place of-business,, makes a good start
at the day’s work, and then greet*
most of hi s fellow business men at the
post office, where, he gets his mail and
learns what the balance of the world is
doing.
Newborn is in the midst of a .section
whose crops thirsted for rain for many

weeks. Air. Carter informed us that
the city statistician states that they
were without rain for exactly fifty-sev¬
en days.
This has, of course, checked the
growth of the crops in that section but
the recent rains have revived them
wonder fully and they now promise a
fine harvest.
Newborn is expecting a fail ot
fine business and wili not be disap¬
pointed. It is a fine city of fine people
and fine enterprising business men and
is sure to continue to grow.
A delightful morning was spent with
the Newborn people.
In the afternoon a few minutes walk
brought us to Alansfield, where we spent
the ofternoon.
Mansfield is a wonderful little city
with a wonderful history; Many can
remember its beginning but none can
predict the limit of its growth.
Here too the farming territory was
How To Use The
TELEPHONE
Did it ever occur to you that you
might not be using the telephone in the
right way?
Do you speak sideways, above, be¬
low, or six inches away from the trans¬
mitter of your telephone?
You should talk directly into the
transmitter—not simply at it. Keep your
! lips about one inch from the mouthpiece.
Speak in an even tone. It is not neces¬
sary to shout.
There is much that can be said about
the proper way to telephone, but these
little rules will help.
