While there was no outward
?how of great enthusiasm at
the session, it was evident that
deep purposes were forming in
the hearts of those present that
will shortly find expression in
action.
The problems discussed were
Health, Education, Recreation,
Race Relations, Business lm

"ation. The locals speakers
were Prof. G. C. Adams, Prof.
H. B. Robertson, R. W. Camp¬
bell, E. G. Martin and Rev.
Walker Combs.

the devotional exercises.

field, died at a private sanita¬
rium in Atlanta, leaving a wid¬

D. W. Kinnett Buried Sunday
The remains of Mr. D. W.
Kinnett, who died at a private
sanitarium in Atlanta on Fri¬
day of last week, were brought
to Covington Sunday for funer¬
al. and intennent. The decked
ceased is survived by a widow

At Mrs. Norris’,
One of the most interesting
occasions of the year was the
meeting of the United Daugh
ters of the Confederacy, which
was held Tuesday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. R. A. Norris
on Church street.
The house was beautifully
decorated with ferns, foliage
plant? and Spring flowers.
Quite a lot of business was
transacted and many plans
made.
Arrangements were comple¬
ted for serving dinner to the
Confederate Veterens on Memo¬
rial Day.
At the concluson of the bus¬
iness session an interesting pro¬
gram was rendered, which inclu¬
ded two vocal selections by Miss
Florence Wells, reading by Mis
Mary Epps and piano solo by
Mis = clara Belle. Adams.
Delicious refreshments wen
served by the entertainmeid

Death of John A. Hinton.
Mi'. John Hinton, the faith¬
ful janitor at the county court
house, died at 3:00 o’clock
Wednesday morning of Bright's
disease, leaving a widow and a
large number of relatives to
mourn his loss. The remains
w-ere carried to Starrsville
Wednesday afternoon for inter¬
ment, Rev. T. J. Christian,pas¬
tor of the First Methodist
church of Covington, conducting
the obsequies.

Passes on March 11th.
Mrs .Caroline Skinner, eighty
six years of age, died at the
tome of her daughter, Mrs.
Laura Cook, on March 11th,
twenty-one years after her hus¬
band passed away
Mrs. Skinner was a devoted
member of the Methodist church
from early childhood and was
m excellent Christian lady
vhose death was the source of
genuine regret among her many
•elatives and friends.
The deceased is survived by
