Porterdale, Ga., July 30.—On ’Wed¬
nesday, July 23rd, 1910, at 3 P. M.,
the Aiii-'e! of Death entered the home
of our friends, Mr, and Mra Pleas.
Dorsy, and took therefrom its bright¬
est Jewel, dainty, cunning, beautiful
little Eiiie Elizabeth. She was just
.seventeen mouths old, and a picture
of health, with a sweet smile for
every one at all rimes. Her parents
idolize^ her and her grand-parents
thought little Etfie was the dearest of
thm all. On Friday afternoon her
beautiful little body was laid away in
the Baptist cemetery, after an impres¬
sive service held by Kev. Gresham
to await th e call of her Maker on that
day, while her sweet .Spirit is now
with the Angels watching over loved
ones on Earth, beckoning them t«
come to her. To the sorrowing fam¬
ily we would say, “Weep not, Eiiie is
not dead, but transplanted to her
Heavenly Home." She has been taken
out of this world of sorrow, tempta¬
tion and sin for a purpose known only
to God. and His will should be our
law. So live that when your earthly
journey is endud you can go to the
little one who is waiting for that re¬
union that lasts forever.. The floral,
offerings woke numerous and beauti¬
ful while the snow white casket and
robes were typical of the spotless pu¬
rity of little children.

The Porterdale Basel Ball Club
played the team of the Covington
Mills last Saturday and won the game
by a secret of (i to 4. Both sides
played some good ball and some very
rotten ball, but we are getting better
every time we play and we. are ex¬
pecting to shut out this team of the
Covington Mills on the home grounds
iio-A’t Saturday, August the 2nd.
Jus* as we were thinking about
renting the city lock-up out for the
summer to some of the city tourist,
th.. mid-summer fights broke out
! afresh. His Honor, the Mayor, had
: not had a case before him for a whole
Iweek and it loked like| that things
were getting good, but we will hope
that these belligerently inclined will
curb their mighty temper and let a
record of one week without a case
pass into insignificance!.
Mr. George Ponder was out of town
nearly all of last week doing grand
jury duty i u the Covington courts.
Mr “Red" Collum si cut the day
some where last Sunday, but h e won’t
tell ns Where. Wo will have to watch
“Red" after this.
Mr? Emit Rogers was with “Red.”
Our good friend, Mr. Rein Hall, has
sold bis Ford and is contemplating
the purchase of au automobile instead.
Our young friend, Mr, R. L.
Baugheum, is leaving us next week
to go into the employ of one of the
large Trust Companies, of Atlanta.
Mr. Baugheum doesn’t know yet just
where he will b e located, whether in
Atlanta or at one of the small tow
plants of the company. But where
ever it is he has our very best wishes,
and w e feel sure that he will make a
success wherever he goes for he is a
very capable, honest, ambitious and
energetic young man and with the
right kind of a chance will some day
ruakij his mark. Good luck, old boy,
go to it and work lik e “Helen be hap¬
py" and you’ll get there.
