Womens’ .Missionary
Society Entertains.
On Monday last, the Woman’s Mis¬
sionary Society of the Methodist
diurch held its July meeting at the
beautiful home of Mrs. C. A. Harwell,
on Montieello street. 1 ^
After tlie devotional and regular
airiness were attended to Miss Mary
Harwell in Chinese costume. Miss Alf-

forward and made an earnest appeal

afternon from a prettily decorated
table and at the close of the contest
delicious cream and cake were served.

Philatliea Class
Entertains.
On Thursday afternoon at the liand
some home of Mrs. Lester Lee. on
<'Olivers street. Mrs. Tom Heard and
Mrs. Lee were joint hostess to the
Pliilatheas of the Methodist Sunday
School, in a very profitable, as well
as a social meeting.
Pretty decorations of ferns, grow¬
ing plants and vases of pink crepe
myrtle were used in the reception
room a
Quite a large number were present.
Mrs. C. S. Thompson, of Atlanta,
a former member of the class was
present and received a most cordial
welcome.
After much business had been at¬
tended to dainty and delicious re¬
freshments were served.
Mrs. Davis Entertains
Sunday School Class.
Mrs. John B. Davis entertained her
Sunday School class of twenty-two
young boys between eleven and twelve
years of age, at a delightful barbecue
out at tlie Boy Scouts camp Wednes¬
day, where they were assisted by the
scouts and Scout Master M. G. Bos
t!!, The class assembied on the Metho¬
dist church lawn at nine o-clock and
were carried out in Mr. R. E. Everitt's
truck, while tlie ladies who were in¬
vited to assist Mi#. Davis went out in
an automobile.
There were between 75 and KX)
invited by file scouts and a very hap¬
py day was spent.
Basket Supper.
A very happy occasion of the week
was the basket supper which was
given by the North Covington Social
and Charitable Co-operative Society
on Tuesday evening on the lawn of of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Powell, in
North Covington.

! tion to meet at difterent homes dur
ing the summer months to become
better acquainted and to sjtend a
pleasant social evening,
Splendid suppers will be furnished
by each family attending. j
Every one in the community was in-;
vited to come and bring a basket and
enjoy the evening together. Before j
supper the children engaged in games i
on the lawn assisted by the older ones 1
who seemed to enjoy them as much as
the little folks, and when supper w r as
announced every one present fully en¬
joyed the bounties that covered the
table from end to end.
PAVING NOTICE
At a meeting of the Mayor and
Council of the City of Covington,
Georgia, on June 7th, 1920. a petition
was presented by the property owners
requesting the paving of sidewalks on
Conyers Street. This petition was
approved.
Notice is hereby given that the
sidewalks on Conyers Street begin¬
ning were Elizabeth street intersects
with Conyers street apd ending at
Church street, in said City, will be
paved in accordance with the plans
and specifications of the Ordinance
passed by tlie Mayor ami Council of
the City of Covington, Georgia, Feb¬
ruary 5th, 1912. which among other
things provide that the property own¬
ers shall pay for one half of tlie cost
anil the City of Covington the other
half.
