a motor trip to Atlanta, where they
will visit Mr.s T. J. Speer and Miss

The young ladies who have been
camping out at Gaither’s farm enter¬
tained between 75 and 100 guests at
a delightful barbecue Thursday even¬
ing and returned home Friday after
a most enjoyable week’s stay.

Friday afternoon to bring Air. Luke
Robinson home from the hospital, but

Baraca Class
Gives Barbecue.
One of the most enjoyable events of
the past wec(> was the barbecue on
Friday at which the Baraca Class of
the First Alethodist church entertained
a number of their friends at the pretty
cauntr.v home of Air. and Mrs. Mobley
near Covington.
Miss Travis Entertains

A very pleasant affair of the past
week was the theatre party given by
Miss Allie Louise Travis on Wednes¬
day afternoon at the popular Lyric
Theatre in compliment to her guest.

Mrs. Earl Al. Smith entertained
her Sunday school class of girls with
a lawn party last Saturday afternoon.
The beautiful story, “Probable Sons,”
by Amy LeFewvre, was read and en¬
joyed. Delicious refreshments were
served.

of Aliss Alabel Corbin, of Cedar Hill,
Tenn., and Alisse Willie Fulton, of

At the conclusion of the interesting
game delicious cream and cake were
served.

A delicious dinner of five courses
was served after which a number of
interesting games were enjoyed.

In Honor Aliss Dorothy Reed.
On Thursday evening at her attrac¬
tive home on Conyers street, Mrs. A. C.
Vining entertained about thirty guests
of the younger set at a prom party,
the affair being a pretty compliment
to Aliss Dorothy Reed, of Bartow, Fla.,
the guest of Aliss Beth Flowers.
Handsome white prlox and brilliant
colored salvia were used in the living
room decorations.
Tlip punch bowl, which was placed
n the porch, was beautifully decorated
with ferns and dainty pink crepe myr¬
tle and was gracefully presided over
by Alisses Annie Trapnell and Woffie
Floyd and Alary Lizzie Sandling.
Proms featured the happy occasion.

In Honor Miss Cochran.
Beautiful in every detail was the
six o’clock dinner at which Aliss An¬
nie Peek entertained a few friends on
Wednesday evening at the home of her
parents, Air. and Airs. J S. Peek, on
Montieello street, in honor of Aliss
Maliel Corbin, of Cedar Hill, Tenn.,
guest of Alrs.H.B.Robertson.
The color scheme of yellow’ and
white was carried out in the dining
room, lighted with many candles and
aglow’ with pretty flowers, also in the
courses served.
The table had as its central deco
artion a crystal basket of nasturtiums
the hand e tied with ^vliite tulle rest¬
ing on a plateau.
The candelabras and candlesticks
held white unshaded taper*.
The hostess was assisted by her sis¬

Williams.

Missionary Society.
The Foreign and Homo Missionary
Society of the First Methodist church
met at the beautiful home of Airs. R.
E. Everitt, on Floyd street, Monday at
4 o’clock, for its August meeting. The
spacious parlor, with its lovely bas¬
kets of nasturtiums swelled the hearts
of tiiose present with gratitude to Him
for whom they had met to do service
and an air of humility s**emed to per¬
vade the forty who were present.
Mis, Count Gibson conducted the
devotional exercises and made fitting
remarks on the subject for the after¬
noon. "World Unity Found in Christ.”
Four uevv members were reported,
making 70 in all.
Mrs. Robert Fowler talked very
beautifully on “The Life of Aliss Ella
Leverett,” missionary for whom the
society is making special effort, fol
lowed by prayer by Mrs. A. N. Hays.
The meeting was then turned over
to committee in charge: Airs. R. E. Ev¬
eritt, Airs. J. B. Davis, Airs. Geo. T.
Smith, Airs. A. D Williams, Airs. J. O.
Cooper, Mrs. IV. B. It. Pennington, Mrs.
W. H. Pickett and Airs. Luke'Robinson.
After the song, “A Charge to Keep
I Have,” Mrs. Robertson gave a
clipping. “Christian America Essential
to World Unification.” Then, “Lack
of Unity in Rural Districts,” was read
by Airs. W. R. Stillwell. Mrs. John
B. Davis then very beautifully founded
Unity on Christ, “The True Ideal.”
Cake and cream w r ere served during
the social hour.
