BASE BALL NOTICE.
The base ball season having closed,
, meeting of the association is called
to meet in the Court House, Thurs¬
day, September 9th, at 8 o'clock P. M.
R. TV CAMPBELL, Pres.
i trust my service a-s your Judge will
warrant a similar endorsement.
I have endeavored in every way to
meet every requirement of this oifice,
with full knowledge of its importance
to the people of the circuit, and with
the deepest sense of its obligations.
My efforts have been rewarded with
the commendation of a large major¬
ity of the people of the circuit aud
special commendation has been made
>y the grand juries of every county
vho.se grand jury has convened since
Mr. Daley became a candidate, and
with a full knowledge of his candi¬
(
dacy have joined with the court otli
r.ers and the members of the bar in
indorsing my administration and ap¬
proving my candidacy for re-election.
I am deeply appreciative of these
eommendatinos, and by reason of them
im led to believe that my services
is your Judge have been satsifactory
to you.
I feel that I have the right to ask
hat you express your approval by
,our votes and accord me a full term
is your Judge. In asking this I am
requesting only that which you have
given to every Judge who has ever
presided over your circuit.
Mr. Daley attacks me only because
I was “appointed” Judge and asks
that he he given the office only that
the “electorate” may choose its Judge
as provided by law. He overlooks
the fact that I was appointed AS PRO¬
VIDED BY LAW, and am now seeking
an election as PROVIDED BY LAW.
No complaint is made against me in
my administration and T am now sub¬
mitting to the same electorate for EN¬
DORSEMENT and ELECTION that
Mr. Daley is appealing to for ELEC¬
TION ONLY. My appeal to the voters
for election upon my record and for
the application of the time-honored
Democratic custom of giving to a faith¬
ful officer one endorsement of his
record is made with full confidence
that our people by their votes will
express their appreciation of my earn¬
est efforts to serve them.
Sincerely. HUTCHESON.

A Greater Georgia Tecb
Wanted.
Atlanta, Ga., August 27 .—That
Southern manufacturers of all lines
eager to see a “greater Georgia
where Southern boys can be
as experts who will develop
South industrially, is being prov¬
more and more forcibly every day.
Recently the Georgia Cotton Man¬
ufacturers’ Association, the Georgia
Ginners’ Association, The
Sash, Door and Mill work
Association and othei
commercial bodies vitally in
terested in the South’s industrial prog
have adopted resolutions, urging
for Tech and pledging their
to secure it.
The latest of these organizations tc
realize the possibilities of Tech as ;
for developing the young man
hood of the South for constructive up¬
building of the South industrially, is
the Southern Division of the Ameri¬
can Face Brick Association.
Meeting in convention in Atlanta
Wednesday, the members of the As¬
sociation unanimously adopted reso
lutions urging a greater Georgia Tecb
and particularly urging the establish¬
ment at Tech of a department of ce¬
ramics where young men can be train¬
ed for expert leadership in the ce¬
ramics industry and where exhaustive
experiments in clay products may he
conducted.
“The South is undoubtedly suffering
a serious handicap today because of
lack of expert leadership,” declare the
resolutions. “The South is but scanti¬
ly profiting through its vast commer¬
cial clay deposits, being fifth in pro¬
duction of crude clays and seven¬
teenth in the manufacture of clay
products.”
The resolutions then go on to say
that there is not a technical school
in the South with a department of ce¬
ramics, and urge Georgia Tech as the
ideal institution for fostering such a
department and for meriting the sup¬
port of clay and brick manufacturers.

COVINGTON WINS IN CLOSING
GAME OF SEASON
The ball season for Covington closed
last Tuesday when the local team lmd
a decided victory over Lithonia who
has had quite a good team for the
year, having won over our team once
>r twice. The season has been a suc¬
cess; for our team in every way. except
falling behind a few dollars in the
expense. Most clubs find themselves
deeply in debt at the close of a season,
t jie small amount this dull is be¬
hind speaks well for the liberal sup¬
port 'of the lovers of the national game.
It ,.i!:es money to play half now, and
our chili is to be congratulated for the
great success attained on the small
amount of money spent.
Here of late there had been a gener¬
al desire to se t < some base haII team,
if ir. eonld lie found in this part of
the state that knew how to play good
enough to at least interest the Cov
ingtov team.
Thy game Tuesday in this city when
the fccals had an easy victory it was
thought before the game that rhe visi¬
tors toere prepare^! to give a contest
that rwould turn the winning tule our
team 4ias enjoyed for the last 4 or 5
gameji on account of the visitors play¬
ing several men who hail from Hie
North Georgia League.
In the third inning the home team
started a regular merry-go-round and
before the third man was out they
had jiueceeded In tlie in 4th bringing inning Gibson nine men got
around
a home run. while Lithonia got a
1
homo run in the 6th. At the close of
the game the score stood 2 to 15 in
Covington’s favor.
Pantone did the mound work and
lmd the visitors at his mercy through¬
out the game. Yandergriff. the catch¬
er played his usual good game and
there was few errors by any of our
boys.
j Manager C. W. Adams took a great
