WOMAN'S CLUB OF COVINGTON
TO ENTERTAIN EIGHTH DIST.
The annual meeting of the Federa¬
ted Clubs of the Eighth District, Mrs.
Lena Felker Lewis, of Monroe, pres¬
ident. will he held at the First Metho¬
dist church in Covington, oti Tuesday,
May 17th.
All the clubs in this district are
expected to send to the meeting their
presidents and a delegate as official
representatives.
Visitors from the clubs will also be
given a most cordial welcome.
Mrs. J. E. Hays, of Montezuma, pres¬
ident of the Georgia Federation, and
Mrs. A. R. Brantley, of Blackshear.
vice president at large, are expected to
attend the meeting.
Mrs. J. S. Thomas, president of the
Atlanta club; Mrs. H. M. Boykin, vice
president of the Atlanta club; Mrs.
Hugh Willet. chairman of Tallulah
Fals Industrial school; Mrs. Alonzo
Richardson, chairman on American cit¬
izenship. will he among the prominent
speakers of the meeting.
Reports will he made of all the dis
trict work and important plans will be
discussed. A large delegation is de¬
sired.
EPWORTH LEAGUE SOCIAL.
Miss Lenore Ellis and Mr. Paul El¬
lis received the Epworth League, Fri¬
day evening. The home is admirably
adopted for entertaining. Pink roses
were artistically arranged. Many
games were enjjoyed. Sandwiches and
punch were dispensed. Misses Mary
Ellis Smith and Mildred Gower of At¬
lanta were lovely acquisition.

The Woman’s club was gratifeid at
the general response for Clean-Up
Week recently.
Every individual, each committee
and all organizations were highly com¬
mended for the laudable crusade.
Now, it is requested that "history
repeat itself” and that Covington “go
one better" by setting her houses and
premises in the pink of condition as
a compliment to the guests within the
gates next Tuesday
There will be a distinguished body
of women here. Not only of the 8th,
but other sections of Georgia. Coving¬
ton must welcome them with glad hand
and gala attire. May they say of us
in the unique phraseology of Walt
Mason:

as White Ribbon recruits was impres¬

Meador, Dennard and Dyal.

MISS SARAH ADAMS DELIGHT¬
FULLY ENTERTAINS.
One nf the most delightful events oi
the year was the prom party given by
Miss Sarah Adams at her home on
"Evergreen Farm,” Friday night, in
compliment to the Senior class of
Mansfield High school, of which she
is a member, and a few other friends.
The house was beautifully decorated
with Dorothy Perkins roses. The col¬
or scheme being pink and white.
On the porch, where punch was serv¬
ed, the main decorations were honey¬
suckle and roses. Proms were enjoyed
by all present until a late hour when
they expressed to the young hostess
what a perfectly wonderful time they
had had.
THE WOMAN’S BIBLE
STUDY CLASS.
The Bible Study Class has reached
the last of the eight great subjects
that go to make up the structure of
the 40 chapters contained in the hook
of Exodus. This is the second book of
the Bible this class has finished, mak¬
ing a total of 100 chapters. The study
of the Bible by books is important and
very fascinating. They will take up
a book on Missions, viz; “Adventures
of Faith in Foreign Lands,” the widest
awake book of the times, on this sub¬
ject, after which they will resume their
Bible study by books.
A BIRTHDAY PARTY.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Vining celebra¬
ted the eighth birthday of their son,
William Marvin, by inviting thirty
five young friends to a party Wed ms
day. May 4th, from 5 ’til 7.
The color note in the home on Mon
ticello street was white and green. A
white cake with eight candles was sym¬
bolic. James Swann won the prize,
a stick of candy, in the contest. A
game, in which ribboned trophies were
fished from a crystal bowl, added di¬
version. Cake and cream were dis¬
pensed.

Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Adams enter¬
tained at dinner. Friday for Mr. and
Mrs. Geo. Cochran.
The spacious home was radiant with
light and fragrant with a wealth of
pink roses.

COVINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
ENJOY HOLIDAY.
School operations were suspended
last Friday, while the pupils reveled in
a well-earned holiday, the teachers went
to Atlanta in a body to attend the Ed¬
ucational convention. The trip was
pleasant and profitable to all.

Mr. H. Ward Lightfoot left Friday
his home at Bradentown. (
During his stay in Covington, Mr.
Lightfoot made a circle of sincere and
appreciative friends. His uniform
cheerfulness and unfailing courtesy
wun esteem both in business and social
relations. Since August, 1920, Mr.
Lightfoot was a valued employee of'
the Covington postoffice. j

especially impressive as it was the last
of the season.

bo congratulated upon the enthusiasm
and interest inspired.
