A SHORT TALK

SUGGESTION
Man is an intricately construoted
piece of mechanism. Unlike other sen¬
tient creatures, his actions are the re¬
sult of definite choice more than of in¬
stinct. And this definite choice is made
at the end of numerous complex mes¬
sages transmitted to and from the brain
Self-willed action may ensue from a
message received from the finger tips,
and it may he instantaneous, as when
the finger touches a red-hot stove. Tic?
brain then receives a hurried notifica¬
tion from the finger and instantly sends
back an order to lift the linger off the
heated surface.
The decision to perform a certain
act may follow messages received by
the brain from all parts of the body;
such is the ease when one is in an over¬
heated room. The surface of the body
keeps sending telegrams over tie
nerves to the seat of the will demand
ing that something be done. Presently
the command is transmitted back to
the hands to raise a window, and the
act is performed.
Or purposeful action may come in
response to stimuli received from any
of the other senses—those of smelling,
seeing, tasting, and hearing.
The response will be helpful or harm¬
ful according to the stimulus. Hence
the need of looking for pleasant situ
ations. or creating them. If one gets a
whiff of a fragrant flower, a glimpse of
a glorious sunset, a bite of a delicious
pie, or a note of a melodious song, he is
moved to nobler and happier living.
So it is that every exterior situation
has its effect on the mind of man by
suggesting and producing definite ac¬
tion.
The mother realizes the power of sug
gestion in the rearing of her child, and
for this reasofi she shields him from
foul mouthed associates, and holds be¬
fore him the way of purity and truth.
In fact, everybody who has to do with
converting others to a desired way of
thinking and acting, appreciates sug
gestion as an important factor. The ad
vertiser. the teacher, the lawyer, the
preacher, all employ it almost exclu¬
sively'.
And you and I can use suggestion to
an advantage in conquering our phys
ical and moral environment, and ther*
by in living the life of a perpetual on
timist.

ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION

To the Superior Court of Newton
County:
The petition of Otis Hardeman, G. VV.
Hicks and E. T. Hull, all of said state
and county, respectfully shows:
1. They desire for themselves, their
associates and successors, to be incor¬
porated and made a body politic under
the name and style of “The West New¬
ton Cheese Factory”, for a period of
twenty years.
2. The principal office of said com¬
pany shall be in Newton county, Ga.
3. The object of said corporation is
pecuniary gain for itself and its share¬
holders.
4. The business to be carried on by
said corporation is the manufacture and
sale of cheese, butter and all other dai¬
ry products, the operation of dairy
farms and such other businesses as are
necessary and incident to the operation
of the dairy products manufacture and
sale aforesaid.
5. The capital stock of said corpora¬
tion shall be thirteen hundred dollars,
with the privilege of increasing same
to the sum of twenty five thousand dol¬
lars by a majority vote of the stock¬
holders, said stock to be divided into
shares of twenty five dollars each. All
of said amount of capital to be employ¬
ed by them having been already actu¬
ally paid in. Petitioners desire the
right to have the subscriptions to the
said stock paid in money, property or
labor, to be taken at a fair valuation.
6. Petitioners desire the right to sue
and be sued, to plead, and be impleaded,
and to have and use a common seal, to
make all necessary by-laws and regula¬
tions, and to do all other things that
may be necessary to the successful car¬
rying on of said business, including the
right to buy, hold and sell real estate,
and personal property suitable to the
purposes of the corporation, and to ex¬
ecute notes and bonds as evidence of
indebtedness incurred, or which may be
incurred in the conduct of the affairs
of the corporation, and to secure the
same by mortgage, security deed or |
other form of lien under existing law. j
7. They desire for said corporation 1
the power and authority to apply for; j
and accept amendments to its charter,
of either form or substance, by a vote j
of a majority of its stock outstanding
at the time. They also ask authority
for said incorporation to wind up its
affairs, liquidate and discontinue its
business at any time it may determine
to do so by a vote of two thirds of its
stock outstanding at the time,
8. They desire for the said incorpora¬
tion the right of renewal when and as
provided by the laws of Georgia, and
that it have all other such rights, pow¬
ers, privileges and immunities as are
incident to like corporations, or per¬
missible under the laws of said state.
Wherefore, petitioners pray to lie
incorporated under the name and
style aforesaid, with the powers, priv¬
ileges and immunities herein set forth,
and as are now or may hereafter he al¬
lowed a corporation of similar charac¬
ter in the laws of said state.
