ITS THAT EASY
Today I was talking to my wife,
Jane, about her Sunday School
class of 12-year-olds. The particular
lesson dealt with prayer. During
the course of the lesson one of the
students related an account of
denting her father’s car with her
bicycle.
While Jane was talking about a
prayer of confession she asked the
girl, “How would you confess to
God about hitting your father’s
car?” The girl was at a loss for
words. Finally she said, “God, I’m
sorry I hit Daddy's car?” “Yes,
that’s right," Jane said. The girl
then looked at her teacher with
delight in her eyes and said, “You
mean it's that easy?” “Yes, it's
that easy.”
So often we forget or refuse to
believe that it’s so easy to make a
confession. When we become aware
of the wrong that we’ve done, we
immediately begin thinking of
excuses for our action. If, in the
course of a day, we wrong
someone, that night we dread
having to admit it; not because we
think we are infallible, but because
we fear their reaction. Most people
are dying to forgive us if we will
only ask. So is God. When we
realize our own rebellion and sib
against God we immediately think
of things to prevent confession.
I was talking with a lady one day
who was very disturbed about her
lifestyle. In the course of the
conversation she spoke of things
she had done and of the way she
felt. After a time of listening to
these things, I asked her, “Have
you told the Lord?” "How,?” she
asked. “Just tell Him like you told
me.” "You mean it's that easy!”
"Yes. it's that easy.”

MEDITATION
MOMENTS
By Rev. Ralph Hawkins
“Take Not Thy
Spirit from Me”
“And he wist not that the spirit
had departed from him.” Judges
16:20
There is a similar passage to the
one above in First Samuel 16:14
as follows: “But the spirit of the
Eord departed from Saul.”
Samson and Paul, two great
men of the Old Testament, were
great as long as god was with
them. They became weaklings
when God left them.
In reality they were men of ex
ceptional ability, but they were
just ordinary men when they
were not possessed of the spirit
of the Lord. It matters not how
strong and forceful your person
ality — unless God is with you
your strength is in vain.
It matters not how ordinary
one’s powers may be, one can
become strong and invincible in
the strength of God. Paul declar
ed “I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.”
Prayer: Our Father, may our
prayer be as one of thy children
