SANTA is coming
Santa Claus will be arriving on the Square in downtown Covington on
Friday morning, Nov. 26, at 9:30 a.m. on a City of Covington fire
truck to officially open the Christmas shopping season.
Santa will be welcomed by Lee Mayfield, chairman of the Covington
Retail Merchant Association, along with children who will be waiting
to visit Santa in "Santa's House” which has been erected on the south
west corner of the Square.
After his arrival, Santa will be available in his house to greet children
and hear their Christmas wishes each shopping day until Christmas.
Santa’s hours will be posted by the front door of his house and will vary
with the times that most children are out of school.
Winston Brown and students of his industrial arts class erected
Santa's House this year, and Mr. Mattingly's art class did the touchup
painting of the house. Both classes are from Newton County Compre
hensive High School.
