Mrs. Clarence Newell Crawford of
Covington announce! the
engagement of her daughter,
Rebecca Carole, to Steven William
Denman of Oxford, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Andrew Jackson Denman of
Athens.
Miss Crawford is the daughter of
the late Clarence Newell Crawford
of Covington. She is the grand
duaghter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Landis Aquillian Eidson of
Carrollton and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Stonewall Jackson Crawford of
Carrollton.
The bride-elect is a graduate of the
University of Georgia where she was
a member of Alpha Chi Omega
Sorority. She received a bachelor of
science degree in elementary

Yancey. The boys are students at
Southern Methodist University in
Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Derrell Carnes and
eon Ron have returned home after
an enjoyable vacation touring
England and Holland. While in
London, England they visited Mr.
and Mrs. walker Campbell and

Denman is the grandson of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Leo S. Schillinger Sr.
of Atlanta and Mrs. Julius L.
Denman and the late Mr. Denman
of Avondale Estates.
The future bridegroom attended
the University of Georgia where he
was a member of Sigma Nu
Fraternity. He attended the Georgia
Institute of Real Estatre and is an
associate broker with Homes. Inc. in
Covington.
The wedding will be November 19
at the First Baptist Church of
Covington.
Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Maloney and
children, of Baltimore, Md., Mrs.
Linda Rainey, of Decatur, and Dr.
and Mrs. Don Berry and children of
Anniston, Ala., were houseguests of
Mr. and Mrs. Jones, last week. In
spiration for the visit was Mrs.
Jones' birthday on Tuesday, when
their grandchildren, Laurie and
Timoltny Whitehead, and a friend,
Lisa Bagget, of Stone Mtn., were
present during their visit with the
Jones this week.
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Sharp attended
the graduation exercises Saturday at
Georgia State University In Atlanta
at which time their daughter-in-law,
Janice Chandler Sharp, the wife of
Dr. Joe Sharp of Conyers, received
her Bachelor of Science degree in
Education. Mrs. Sharp graduated
Summa cum Laude. She and Dr.
Sharp have three children, Haley,
Joe and Leslie.
Miss Irene Harvey is a patient at
Newton County Hospital. Her many
friends are extending her best wishes
for a speedy and complete recovery.
Carter Reunion
held Sunday
The descendants of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Emmett Carter held their
annual family reunion and basket
dinner Sunday at the Lions Club
pavilion with 58 enjoying the oc
casion.
Mrs. Ernest Allen welcomed those
present and expressed her thankful
ness for the family gathering. The
newest addition to the family, little
Joshua Young, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Neely Young of Atlanta, was espec
ially recognized.
Margaret Carter Allen returned
thanks prior to the group enjoying
the delicious covered dish noonday
meal.
Those attending were all five of the
children, with grandchildren and
great-grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs.
E. E. Billy Carter, Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Allen, Covington; Mr. and

Teachers will meet today (Thur
sday) at 3 p.m. at the First United
Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Don J. Wood at
tended the wedding of her niece,
Miss Lois Benson, to Harry Pusey at
the First United Methodist Church
in Buford Saturday morning. The
Rev. Bill Byrd officiated at the
wedding service.
Following the ceremony Mr. and
Mr. Bert Benson were hosts for
lunch at Pine Isle, Lake Lanier
Islands.
The Puseys will visit their parents
in Georgia and Delaware for the
next week prior to returning to their
teaching duties in Augsburg High
School, Augsburg, Germany.
