his home burned, will begin work
on his new one this week, Mr,

work and in the near future Mr,
Benton will have a pretty home,
School closed Friday afternoon
with a very interesting spelling
match, Some nice recitations
were rendered by the small ones,
Miss Bessie Pye and Mr, Hollis
Pope, our efficient teachers, have
gained ahost of friends here and
the people regret to give them up.

The reunion that was held at
the home of Mr. W. B. Waits on
last Wednesday was a day happily
spent by a large number of rela
tives and friends present. A
most tempting dinner was served
also ice cream and cake.
Mr. Edwin Grubbs and Miss
Clevie .Goodman were happily
married on last Sunday morning,
Judge F. E. Jenkins officiating.
The bride is pretty and accom
plished and the groom is a pros
perous young farmer and we ex
tend them our best wishes and
congratulations,
The fleeccy staple is opening
rapidly—the weather is becoming
milder, Summer is over and we
are now bordering on the cver
pleasant autumn months, The
rounds of pleasure are nearly over
and soon the farmers will be busi
ly engaged in harvesting their
crops that they so heroically strug
gled with during General Green's
season,
On last Friday, Saturday and
Sunday was held one of the most
interesting and enjoyable meet
ings that we have ever had the
pleasure of attending at Enon
church, Each day a bountiful
supply of all good things was ser
ved by the ladies of the commun
ity so nicely and temptingly pre
pared. We had with us Rev. Jas
A, Graham and Rev, M, L, Cars
well, and Brother Goodwin who
acted as moderator and Brother
Gibson as clerk, We cxpected
Rev. C. A. Ridley withus on Sun
day and regret very much that ill
ness prevented his presence, We
hope for him a speedy recovery
and that we may have the pleasure
of his presence at another time,
