To the Superior Court of said Coun ty: " The petition of Universal Brother hood, Sons and Daughters, brings this its petition and shows as fol lows: : That petitioner is a corporation .existing under the laws of the State .of Georgia, and specially under an order of this court dated September 27th 1907, and duly recorded in book of Charter Records, in the office of the clerk of this court, pages 42 and 43.2 That petitioner is a benevolent so ciety, having no capital stock, whose objects and purposes are the care, _attention and aid to its members, etc., as set out in the original peti tion for charter. § That under the terms of the order _aforesaid, petitioner was granted the right of renewal at the expiration of twenty years, and petitioner shows that under the terms of said order its charter is abmzt to expire. That at regular meeting of said _society held on the 16th day of August, 1927, a resolution was duly introduced and adopted authorizing the President and Secretary to take the necessary steps to have the char ter renewed as provided for in the original order granting said charter, a true copy of which said resolution is hereto attached, certified and made part of this petition. i Wherefore, the premises consider ed, petitioner, acting by and through .its presidént and secretary, pray that its said charter be renewed by proper order of this court for a peri od of twenty years from the date of the expiration of the said charter, to wit, September 27th 1927. In an open meeting at a regular meeting, the following resolution was introduced: Whereas, the charter of this lodge is about to expire, and : Whereas, it is the wish and desire ts the membership of this lodge that his charter be renewed for a period ~of twenty years, Therefore, be it resolved that the President and Secretary be and they “are hereby authorized and to take sueh steps are necessary to have said .charter renewed for 20 years. PEURIFOY The News regrets to chronicle the death of Mrs. Fannie Peurifoy, which occurred early Sunday morning at her home in this city. She was one of Monticello’s sweetest matrons and her death was a source of sor row to a wide circle of friends. A more extended account of her life will appear in next week’s News. And another reason for the move ment away from the farm may be that those who are leaving got tired of cleaning up after the motor pick nickers.—Ex. WILLINGHAM A death which saddened many hearts was that of Mr. Charlie Wil lingham which oceurred in Monti cello Sunday afternoon, Mr. Willingham was a prominent merchant of this city for a long number of years. A more extended account of his life will appear in this newspaper next week. The Jasper County Board of Edu cation has set apart Saturday after noon, August 27th., between the hours of two and four, as the time for the annual election of trustees of the various schools throughout the county. The election should be advertised locally and conducted by the trustees now serving, and when the results have been determined the county school superintendent should be promptly notified.
