Many young men are very anxious
to get into business. They think they
know about all there i» to be known.
They want higher wages than anyone
is able to pay them, and so they set
up tn business for themselves. pat in
their little savings, run in debt for

walks of business, and glad to go back
and take bold of such aervice as thev

his old place, if be could get back,
long before he was old enough to be
trusted wi'h the’ebarge and care of
the business which he undertook. Ti e
probability is. such a man may never
start in business again; or. if h • does,
it is with fear and trembling and with
impaired credit Bating made enemies,
or at least alienated friends, so th at it
requires unusual ability and effort to
overcame the evii impression which he
made by his own rashness and haste.
If he had kept out of business. been
content with moderate wages art! bided
his time, he might have hail a reputa
tion of steadiness, prudence and so
briety. which would have stood him
in good stead when he was ready to
enter business for himself. All these
advantages he hits Sang away for the
privilege of seeing his name in gilt
letters on a sign, and finding himself
posted in the list of bankrupts.

Mr. Cleveland’s dual ouslazhr on
silwr was submitted to the country
at rhe last moment last week. While
he took all the time allowed him to
prepare his message, it is an exceed
ingly weak document. It is very
convincing as to the president’s abso
lute hostility to any term of silver
coinage upon parity with gold.
Gov. Tilianux is the czar of South
Carolina, and prup«iees to carry out
the dispensary law at all hazznrds.
He has assumed full authority, and
the whole state is under military con
trol. It is evident, though, that the
embroglio will brew over in a few
davs wit joat further bloodshed.

The Atlanta Evans eiub can now
vage a vigorous warfare. Mrs. Ev
ans has presented them a check for
one thousand dollars to conduct the
reverent general’s campaign.
The Griffin News and Sun seed's
to have stepped on the feet of the
whole Evans crowd. But they ought
to have longer beads and less protu
berent feet.
F-nai all sections of the country,
the leading papers—the papers iu
touch with the people—characterize
the veto message as the president s
blunder.
The Atlanta Journal has lost its
Evu:s enthusiasm. What’s the mat

Mr. Editor, we did not mean to
create such a sensation when we wrote
those few lines about the new court

thought it w is the sentiment of onr

let onr pecuniary individual keep ns
from pursuing the course that would

W* ire very much obliged to Bro.

Ou Thursday last at 9 o’c! ok Mr.

the house immediately shot himself
twice through and through, one bail
entering left breast just below the

his house, and Drs. Humph re’ and
