The aeries of religious services
which ckxfi at Flat Rock Tuesday
night last vis ooe of the most inter
esting in the history of the encamp
meat.
The meeting begun on Friday
night under bright auspices, and the
four services of each day were full of
enthusiasm and spiritual power.
Presiding Elder Williams was in
charge, and, captured beta the church
and attendant crowds with his elo
quent messages of love. Rev. D L.
Parrish, of Roanoke. also lent elo
quent help, and his able discourses
were listened to with deep interest.
Rev. Hugh Houston, of the Baptist
ehureh. was a tenter and an effective
helper. Among the other able min
isters were Beta O'Neal. Colley, Moore,
Wood and McDowell.
The crowd -o Sunday was estima
ted at from fifteen hundred to two
thousand, and the order was perfect.
The rest rmatiun on this line was very
marked, and frequently during the
meeting the preachers thanked the
eongregatior.s for their good attenti-c
and rtex outside for their icel'ent
deportment. Whether listening to
the messages •/ the ministers, or
mingling iu social reunion about the
tents, or strolling tn happy couples
among the rugg-d rocks, the crowd
seemed to be influenc’d by the per
vading influence of the encampment
and never forget their reverence fur
- the Prince of love and peace who
overwatebed their way.
Though slightly warm, the weath-
er was perfect, and die meeting was
one that will always be a green spot
in the Chnstmn expert, nee of all who
bowed before the consecrated altar of
the great tabernacle.
