; Beds of Iron Ore.
What is supposed to be iron ore’
was found on Mr. O. B. Stevens’
mill place, ahout a mile or twe
from the ecity, last weck. Also
semething similur has been found
on Mr, Sam Brown's place,
near the brickyard, which
ins the appearance of iron,
Mr, Brown, who lived for many
years in Tennessce among the iron
mings ol that State, on examining
these specimens, stated that he
was inelined to believe that iron
formed a constituent part of them,
and from what knowledize he had
of the formation of iron ore, was
also inelined to believe that rich
beds of iron exist near us. If
such should bethe fact,then indeed
a veritable “boom" would be ours.
An aunalysis witl be made of the
speeimen found.
Caught at Last.
Sherift Thornton left Monday for
Fort Gaines to get John Sams,
who was held in eustody there.
Sams broke jail here about three
years ago with Hewry Walton,
who was sentenced to bang, Sams
is charged with buarclavizing the
atore of Mr, Turner Lewis, of this
city. To obtain his prisoner, Shers
it Thornton worked a nice litile
piece of strategy. Sarms
was living in Alabama, and rather
