business house erected in Parrott. M.
- Weaver bailt the first brick store here.
- Dr. J. H. Williford is erecting a new
store next to the building occupied by
Capt. Wm. Kaigler. The doctor will
use it as a drug store.
- Parrott has now one of the neatest
little postoffices to be found anywhere.

Jerry Nix, a negro, was arraigned for
burning the Arlington academy. The jury
could not agree, and a mistrial was de
| clared. This was the second trial of
| Nix, he having been tried at the former
| term of court and sentenced to the peni
| tentiary for life. § :

Beihel Association will convene with |
, the Buptist charch at Herod. five miles
south of Dawson, on Tuesday of next'
week. There will be a large number of
visitors present, but the hospitahty of’
the good people of that community is |
proverbial, and all who atiend will be!
well cared for. |

Mrs. Sutton and Miss Nora Harris,
who live near the city, had quite an ex-~
citing experience in a runaway the other
day. Miss Harris was thrown over the
dashboard,and considerably bruised, but,
fortunately, no seriousinjary was done.
