FIFTY YOLUNTEERS.
Col. Rrown of the Second Regiment Offer=
ed Company from Ferrell County.
The mariial spirit still exists in the
breasts of many of Terrell county’s brave
young raen, and as the Cawson Guards
are not to be called into service as a
body fifty men have volunteered their
services to Colonel Oscar Brown. The
young men of this body number about
twenty-five men from the Guards and
others from the county at large. Ad
vice s hourly expected from Colonel
Brown, and if the tender of service
is accepted fifty brave and true men
will speedily be mustered into servica.
This offer is contingent ou the volun
teers being allowed to officers the com
pany from among the members thereof,
to be as follows: Capt. Chas. A. Bell,
and Lieutenagits W, O. Thornton and L.
C. Hoyl, Jr. These young men believe
the company can be recruited to 75 or 80
men, as it is understood there are quite
a number of the Cuthbert boys who are
ready and anxious to go *o the troat.
This movemenr is entirely ountside of
the regular company, and while some of
the members thereof are among the
volunteers yet the guards will remain
intact under present officers.

The ocean steamship connection of
the Georgia and Alabama Railway be

York, Boston and Phildelphia via Bal
timore continues with the same regu
larity, same sailing dates and quick
service as heretofore, with no advance
of through rates or impediment of any
kind that unfavorably effects the us
ually satisfactory movement of traflic
to or from eastern points.

But there was one thing needed to {1
his ¢up of happiness full to overflowing.
In that one thing is a sorrowful tale of ter
rible suffering. For over ten long yeurs
lie suilered the most exeruciating pains that
made life a burden and almost uibearable.
Mr. Riddle’s pitiable and helpless condition
wae known to many of our most prominent
and influential citizens, and his restoration
to con:plete health is a marvel to all.
About two weeks ago, while on his way to
fill « preaching appointment at Irene, he
dropped into our office and during a pleasant
talk the conversation turned upon his health
and his remarkable recovery. We asked
him to what he attributed his present good
health. He enthusiastically replied *to

and then told us the following story of his

“I suffered with sciatica for about ten
gears, bhut not severely until sometime in
