Something novel and interesting will

They have named the entertainment
“A trip 'round the world.” The homes
of several members will play the lead
ine parts, each representing some for

I IN THE SOCIAL REALM.
Several went from Dawson Wednes
day night to be presentat the hospit
able home of Dr. H. A. Cook in Par
rott, where a delightful entertainment
was given. In point of enjoyment it was
one of the most enjoyable events ever
given in Parrott, and when the crowd
dispersed at # late hour it was under
‘the influence of the unalloyed pleasure
i vthey had experienced.
- Miss Lucy Rogers entertained a
‘ number of her friends at the home of
her father on Stonewall street Friday
night, and those who attended in ex
pectation of a most enjoyable occasion
were not disappointed. The charming
hostess was ably seconded in her ef
forts by Misses Mabel Rogers and Ma
mie Hayde. Those present were unan
imous in declaring that no more pleas- i
ant occasion was ever attended in
Dawson. |
Something rather unique in the way '
of socia! entertainment was that adopt
ed by Mrs. Maggie Crouch in entertain
ing the Round Dozen club Thursday
afternoon at her home on College
street.
It was an ‘‘advertising’ party, the
members contesting to ascertain who
could write the shortestand best ad
vertisemeny. Mrs. M. J. Yecmans’ ad
vertisement on pills won the first
prize, a sterling silver gravy ladle.
Miss Ellen Alley selected for the
subject ot her advertisement The
Dawson News. It read as follows:
“THE DAWSON NEWS, the most pro
gressive paper in the flourishing city
of Dawson, has acirculation extending
far into the thousands. It is democrat
ic and popocratic, and foretells future
events. If you wish to be known as
up-to-date you will he sure to take
THE NEwWS. The merchants have be
come rich through its advertising col
umns.”’ .
Mrs. Crouch used a color scheme of
green and red in the decorations, and
delicious refreshments were served in
the dining room. The ‘advertise
ment" party will be long remembered
by those present.
