highest in years and indicating an

a toboggan ride, and his accelerated

and buyers did not waat vo take it at
that price.

Congressman Griggs Will Help
in Democratic Campaign.
Congressman J. M. Griggs has con
sented to make a number of speeches
during the campaign, anda has placed
his services at the disposal of Chair
man Cowherd of the congressional
campaign committee. He will speak
in doubtful districts in the porth and
west dv-ing the month of October.
Judge Griggs was chairman of the
congressional campaign committee
two years ago, and heirg familiar with
the political conditions throughout the

Solicitor-General Laing and mem
bers of the Dawson bar naving business
in Quitman superior court will leave
next Sunday afternocon for George
town, the fall session beginning there
on Monday morning. The, dockets
are light, and the session will perhaps
not last longer than two or three days.

Georgia Grocery Company Making Preparations to Build on Sea

The work of placiag material on the
ground for the erection {of a big brick
build‘ng has been begun by vhe Geor
gia Grocecy Company. The straciuce
is to be built near the Seaboacd Air
Lipe depot, and it wiil doubtless be
ready for occupancv by the com
pany some time beloce Christmas.
It will be 66x150 feet, giving its oc
cupants ample room for the large stock
which tuey will carry.

Session Will Be Extended into Next June
to Make Up for Lost Time. Work on
New Building Progressing Slowly.
Monday was the regular time Jor the
opening of the fall term of the public
schools of Dawson, but instead of the
session beginning that day the board
of education met for the puipose of
deciding on a day when school would
open,
After hearing from members of the
building committee it was the opinion
of the board that the new building
would not be ready before October 15,
and it was decided L 0 announce that
date as the time when the next session
of schooi would begin.
Instead of closing the last of May,
as heretofore, the school will be ex
tended into June of Lext year for the
purpose of making up as much of the
lost time as possiole.
Work on the new building is pro
gressing slowlv on account of ihe
scarcity of workmen, and it is not
believed 10 be at all probable that the
building will be completed before the
tiwe specitied in the contiract, which is
October 15.

and brought back Borace Moutgomery,

Miss Annie May Kitchens, one of the
