OBITIARV THIGPEN.—Died at the residence of big father, in Calhoun countv Ga., on the 14th day of September, 1869, Thomns Edwin Thig. pen, aged 21 years 6 months 14 davs; son at H. F. Thigpen, formerly of South Caruhnu. While in the vigor of mauhoou, and in the enjoyment of teallh, the destroyer came. Prostrated by disease, he bore the agonies of a short hot patnlul illness, and murmured not at the afflicting hand of Piovideuee. Arid when his end drew nigh, feeling conscious that his light ot life must soon be sxtiu-. guished by the chilling hi rsts of death he calmly entreated his friends not to weep, hut meekly submit to the decree of God. Thus his spit it winged its way to its tinai and eter nal rearing place. The deceased entered the armv of his beloved South at an early age and was one among many who bore the scats ot his gallant deeds in battle to his grave • having lost his left arm, and was severely wounded in the cheek and neck, trum which be never fullv recovered. By his own re quest iris artificial arm, soldier’s ha', and the bullet with which he was wouuoed, was placed in his coffin, by his friends. Though fond of the society of his friends, he devoted his time anti attention to the happiness and welfare of his aged [ arents, whom he obeyed, honored, adored and loved. None knew him hut to love him, for his noble traits of brnrvolehce, chari y and amiability, are ever exhibited as bright examples in his associa tion* witli his lellow men. One admired, re spected and beloved has been tukeu from our midst ; and though the places that once knew him shall know him no more, loug will be live in the memory of his friends end re lations, who now mourn his loss. “The Lurd givelh and the Lord taketh away,” and may God grant us Cbris'ian grace in meek submission to exclaim, “Blessed be the name of the Lord.” A mens. iUARKLT UIIPOKT.
