Savannah petitioned tho Council to

through the city. Wo are glad to
know that'our citizens are not so ad
verse to the interests of our planters,
and every day we see numberless loads
being carried not only from the Depot,
but from several our most popular
business houses.
Blockade in Western Fkkiq fits.—
The Macon Telegraph of yesterday says:
“Dispatches were received in the . ity
yesterday from Louisville houses stat
ing that shipments could not he made
in consequence of tho Louisville and
Nashville and Nashville and Chatta
nooga Railroads being choked with
freight. It is said thore are no loss
than s'jrtem hundred cur loads at Nash
ville awaiting transportation south,
and at least hialf that number at Chat
tanooga. In consequence of this, ba
con, bulk meats, corn and other pro
duce are getting scarce in our market.”
