La Rue’s Minstrels. — Of tho morits
of this Troupe the Augusta Chronicle
says :
This great minstrol troupe opened
at the Theatre last night, and were
greeted by a full house. All anticipa
tions which we had formed of them
were fully realized. They deserve
tlieir reputation of being one of the
best minstrel companies in the country.
With a good orchestra, though not so
full as it might bo, and a fine corps of
artists, their performance has been
signalized by success Signor Ricardo
undoubtedly merits his title of “the
great.” Asa male prima donna he is
a little ahead of anything that we an
ticipated. His voice is astonishing in
it3 clearness and feminine sweetness.
Hugh Hainall boast of a sweet voice,
full of patoos, feeling and melody.
Stevie Rogers is the best clog dancer
that we ever saw. The flageolet solo
of Monsieur Louis, was wonderful.
Tho other members of the troupe are
fully up to their parts, and the whole
form quite a pleasant entertainment.
Savannah.
A- day in this growing city led us to
believe that our merchants could do
quite as well there in their purchases
as they might do farther north.
Cotton is still declining, and it is
reas-liable to suppose that goods will
decline also; then buy small stocks,
and buy often. Go in person to buy
first stock and make arrangements, to
order, afterwards, and in five days
from time you order you have what
you want. We were assured that all
tho different wholesale houses would be
prepared to sell the many different kinds
of goods that a.-e required to make up
a stock of goods for tho country mer
chant. The houso of Orff Watkins &
Cos. are offering one of the largest
stocks of Staple and Fancy dry goods,
ever brought to the South, ami at low
prices, “so we think.
Messrs. Einsten Eckman & Co’s
stock of Boots and Shoes is large and
complete, and they defy competition in
the way of stylo aud price of goods
Wo cannot name the many houses,
that are doing a wholesale business,
hut simply say, to those who have
not visited Savannah since the war,
that it xvouid surprise them to see the
perparatiou made to do business with
interior merchants.
Pass Him Around.— About ten days
ago a man named Britton, claiming to
be a member of a firm called Calhoun

ness cards for hotel Registers. He
contracted with tho Franklin Printing
House to print throe Registers to be
preseated to tho hotels in the city.—
When one was completed-ho called
and paid for it. He then proceeded
to collect for the cards, and afterward
called at the Franklin and ordered tho

and he would pay for thorn. lie can

DISEASES OF THE BLOOD.
“The life of the fl -sh is the Blond," is a
Scilptural maxim that science proves to lie
true. The people talk of bad blood, as ihe
cause o! many diseases, aid like many popular
opinions.this of had blood is founded in truth.
The symtoms of bad blood are usually quite
plain—bad Digestion-causes imperfect nutri
tion, and consequently the circulation is fee
ble, ihe solt tissues loose their tone and elas
ticity,and the tongue boeomes pale,broad,and
frequently coverd with * pasty, white coat.
This condition soon shows itself in roughness
of the skin, then in krcptivk and ulckhativk
diseases, and when long continued, results in
serious lesions of the Brain, Liver, Langs, or
urinary apperatus. Much, very much, suffer
ing is caused by impure blood. It is estimated
by some thal one fifth of the human fanj.ly
are i (feted with scrofula in some form.
When the Blood is pure, you are not. so
liable to any disease. M any imputities of the
Blood arise from impure diseases of huge
cities. Eradicate every impurity from the
fountain of life, and good spirits, fair skin and
vital strength will return to you.
