Many gardnors and farmers have not been able to get B tands of turnips and collards. Cot ton picking goes bravely on ; we hear of farmers that have now three-fourths of the crop pickod. But few green boils are to be seon, and if the weath er continues favorable the crop of this section will soon bo out, ginned, sold and the money landed safely in the pockets of the Western farmers who have furnished us with bacon and corn during the TDECRISWOLITu’S, at Do not forget that the Agricultural Society meets at Brown’s Station on Saturday, the Ist. District Meetings. —All the dis tricts have held their meetings and will moot at the Court House on next Tuesday lor the purpose of nominating a candidate for the Legislature, except the town district. Owing to want of a unamimity of action on the part of those composing the meeting, they failed to appoint delegates, aud we suppose will not be represented.— Wuo is to blame? Nobody. Closed Doors.— A great many per sons have been curious to know the cause of our Jew Merchants having their doors closed a few days ago.— W ithout trying to explain the cause ourselves, we will state that it was in accordance with the Jewish faith, and *ill quote from the Atlanta Conatitu to’c, a sketch of these traditionary rit«B and ceremonies; According to the Jewish calender, this evening (25 th) six o’clock begins the year 6621, reckoning from the creation of the world as reeomited by Moses.
