Monthly Report
Because of four misplaced
lines in the minutes of the
county commissioners last week
we are re-printing it in full in its
correct form this week.

Board of Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues of Long
County. Georgia, met this day in
regular session. All members
present. Meeting called to order
by Chairman, J. E. Moody.
Upon motion, ordered that C.
H. Wasden and Ed Skipper be,
and they are hereby employed
on the road force of the county.
Upon motion, an adjourned
session was ordered for March
10th, 1939.

Upon motion the Board order
ed that 40 rod roll of wire be
furnished to said land owner.
Mr. Hodges also presented an
appeal to the Board to furnish
sufficient quantity of wire to
fence right of way an both sides
of Route No. 99 on lands of Mrs.
G. W. Murray.
Appeal granted and ordered
she be furnished a 40 rod roll of
wire.
Mrs. Louise Herbert Howard
appeared and appealed for more
assistance; upon motion appeal
was sustained and assistance
raised to eight ($8 00) Dollars
per month.
Welfare Board, upon request,
appeared before the Commis
sioners and submitted the rec
ord of beneficiaries in Long
County under the Social Security
Laws and discussed several
phases of the operation of said
Act in this county.
Welfare Board took up with
the Commissioners the case of
J. H. Durden.
Upon motion, it wa? ordered
that either C. W. Mueller or
Mrs. F. A. Johnston be paid SI.OO
per day and night to take care
of Mr. Durden, it being optional
with Mr. Durden as to the selec
tion of either of said homes to
be taken care of in.
Upon motion, Dr. 0. D. Mid
dleton was requested to attend

amount of his bid, for the labor
constructing a shed or garage
on the site selected by the board.
Said G. G. Smith to contact Mr.
J. L. Lanier and ascertain ma
terial to be used and furnish bill
of lumber and material necessary
in said construction. Said work
to be first class, and said truck
shed or garage to be constructed
as follows:
Size Thirty (30/ feet by Fifty
(50) feet; Galvanized roof; Four
10 foot doors on side; rolling
doors; Four 3 by 4 foot windows
in rear of building; orfe 3 by 4
window in each end. One 4by
6 window in loft. Four posts on
brick pillars in center of build
ing; Four posts in front to attach
doors to pillars. Eleven foot be
tween joints. Brick pillars 12
inches in ground and four inches
above, and seven feet apart to

Moved and carried that County
Commissioners office be made
private and that connecting door
between said office and the Wel
fare Board’s office be kept closed
at all times except when opened
by said Commissioners, and that
the Clerk place a substantial
hook or latch on said door inside
said Commissioner’s office.
Hon. H. M. Hodges appeared
for J. H. Barrett, Surety on Tax
Collector’s bond, and requested
the Board to require the Tax
Collector to give a new bond re
lieving said surety:

Motion carried to instruct said
Tax Collector to give a new bond
by the April 1939 Session of this
Board, the Clerk being directed
to so notify said Tax Collector.
Petition of R. M. Davis et al,
cabled until April Session of
Board.
Report of M. F. Weaver, Clerk
of Superior Court and City-
Court. received and noted.
Motion carried to add Long
County’s name to petition for
draw bridge at Darien.
Upon motion Mrs. J. T. Collins
and Mrs. Jessie Gordon are or
dered dropped from the paupers
list.
Upon motion, Sheriff T. F.
Chapman is exclusively author
ized to purchase fuel wood for
the county.
Resolution adopted authorizing
loan from the Glennville Bank
to pay jurors for March 1939
Term of Superior Court, said
loan to be the sum of $785.00.
Upon motion, J. L. Lanier,
Road Supervisor, is ordered to
work his crew in the 3rd Road
District under the supervision of
Commissioner D. W. Davis, for
the next two months.
Upon motion the Clerk was or
dered to request bids for gaso
line to be purchased by the
County, from R. K. Hopkins,
Meridian, Lucious Kennedy, and
A. G. Oliver, Glennville; W. P.
Riggins. Jesup, Peyton Way,
Hinesville.
Upon motion, the wages of
County Road employees now re
ceiving $1.25 per day are order
ed raised to $1.50, effective
