The District Attorney’s Office has dismissed the charges against a Keysville man arrested for eaves dropping last October. Jeremy Huffman was arrested by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on charges of Unlawful Eavesdrop ping or Surveillance on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after he climbed a tree on his property and filmed a large gathering on the neighboring property. According to a statement released on October 26, 2024 by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, “deputies found Huffman on a ladder leaning against a tree and determined that Mr. Huffman was live streaming video from Mr. Cullins’ and oth ers on the property onto Facebook. Deputies took Mr. Huffman into custody without incident. This is one of several calls the Sheriff’s Office has responded to over the past year involving Huffman and the neigh bors on Quaker Road.” At the time of Huffman’s arrest, The True Citizen obtained a total of eight reports from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office each de tailing separate officer responses to calls around the property. CROWNING MOMENT Eastmead selected as Edmund Burke Homecoming Queen Edmund Burke Academy senior Leila Eastmead was named the 2025 Homecoming Queen during halftime of the Spartans’ football game against Brentwood School last Friday night. There will be 4-H booths, food vendors, musical performances, games and rides. The Exchange Club food booth will have popcorn, cotton candy and candy apples, with all proceeds from this booth going to support the Waynesboro Exchange Club.
