An express over the Indianapolis & St.
Louis Railway was wrecked near Fern
Station, Indiana. The entiro train, ex
cept the sleeping car, left the track, and
the engineer and fireman, named Red-
dington, father and eon, were both
killed. The rest were violently shaken,
but no one was seriously injured. Two|
passenger trains of the Chicago, Mil
waukee & St. Paul Railroad, collided on:
a curve around Eagle Poiutj Iowa, by
which two engineers and one fireman
were instantly killed, tho other liremun
and a brakeman dying during the fore-J
noon. The brakeman was riding on tho
engine so as to open tho switch at Peru,
three miles beyond and the regular meet-’
ing place of tho two trains. An express 1

Pa., allowed two froight trains on tho

The trains were running at tbo rate of
twenty miles an hour. They collided on

jumped and saved their lives. Four box
oars loaded with giant powder exploded
with terrific force, tearing up rocks,

company is $100,000. Both engines were
thrown down the embaukment and wero
totally wrecked. Near Forest, on tho
Pittaburg, Fort Wayne & Cliicngo Rail
road, tho section of a froight train broke
down, and the second section collided
with it, instantly killing John Boucii, the
foreman of tho second section. There
wero several cars of oil in tho second
section, and they caught fire and soon tho
entire forepart of tho train was wrapped
in flames. While the trainmen were en
deavoring to subdue the lire, near loadod
with dynamite exploded with terrible
violence, destroying several cars, tearing
up the track and injuring the engineer of
